徐峥作为导演的首秀《人再囧途之泰囧》2012年上映后狂揽12亿票房，成为当年备受瞩目的电影。不过，2013年3月，在电影上映3个月以后，《人在囧途》的版权方将《人再囧途之泰囧》的五家出品方以及徐峥告上了法庭，称其侵权，理由为《泰囧》故意进行引人误解的虚假宣传，明示、暗示《泰囧》是《人在囧途》的续集、升级版，将后者的成功转移到《泰囧》上，构成不正当竞争。
