Canonical 宣布，从即将于 10 月 19 日发布的 Ubuntu 17.10(Artful Aardvark) 起将停止提供 32 位 ISO 镜像。32 位设备的市场在萎缩，但远未到绝迹之时。Canonical 工程师 Dimitri John Ledkov 强调，该公司会继续支持 32 位设备，会继续提供安全更新和 bug 修正，但不再提供 32 位 ISO 镜像。Ubuntu 衍生版 Lubuntu 和Xubuntu 预计会继续提供 32 位镜像，这两个版本是为运行在旧计算机上而创造的。Ubuntu 不是唯一一家停止提供 32 位镜像的发行版，其它如 Tails 和 Arch Linux 也宣布了类似的决定。
