OxygenOS 5.0 (first official Android O) for the Oneplus 5
And is it a full Oreo? Or the same shitty half-nougat half-oreo build like for OP3?
The thing I care about the most right here. If it's still the same half baked shit then it's time to look at custom ROMs.
If you mean how settings and qs look like nougat, yeah that's what they're pushing out. It sucks but really all I care about these days is stability.
Other than settings apk looking nougat, what are you actually missing in the Frankenstein build?
Wait what? Could someone briefly explain that to me? I thought Android O on OP3/T was full Oreo?
GCam hdr+ mod not working anymore after update to Oreo. Tried several APKs.
Afraid, they just killed Camera2api to "fix" and gag all the dot pattern user complaints.
https://forums.oneplus.net/threads/camera-spots-and-scope.699021/
Camera 2 API is completely broken. Doesn't work in Adobe Lightroom

Updated Android security patch to December
December patch? Nice! My OP3 is still on September patch.
Still haven't fixed the L1 DRM issue. Man, that makes me fucking mad! +They still haven't announced if they'll fix it for the OnePlus 3/3T or not.
« New design for Lift up display » will be perfect if they remove the red « one » on the clock. It’s horrible in my opinion.
Thanks for contributing actual info instead of just toxic whining like the rest.
Does it have that level 1 something so that Netflix streams are in HD?
Just checked. No
OMG that lift up display... MY EYES
Yeah. The icons are aight, but the red first digit is kinda unnecessary feeling. Makes it seem like the display is broken or something.
picture? that bad?
I personally love it. Way easier to see my notifications at a glance.
Can someone explain the whole half baked oreo thing thats going on? how can it be half nougat and half oreo?
They didn't change the settings app, they also did not include Oreo specific Google play services. They were lazy so they kept the Google play services on Nougat.
That is something I would like someone to calmly explain.
At the end of the day, from what I can see, we get something along the lines of what project treble is promising. Unchanged drivers and low level stuff with an updated userspace which, at the end of the day is what most people care about. Being able to use features that Oreo brings (like autofill for example).
It seems there are some annoyances: double vibration in some cases, they have no more dark theme for the gallery (meh), quick settings are now less useful than they were with the nougat builds. Hopefully these will get fixed.
I honestly wish people would stop screaming like bloody murder.
PS: There's a new "check for update" option under Security & lock screen -> Security update I wonder what that is all about. From what I read, on Google's phones (Pixel and Nexus lines) it actually checks to see whether an update has actually been released. What does it do on the OP5 for example?
does anybody know when we finally will be able to use BT5 to connect with two speakers at one? Generally I found BT5 to be pretty disappointing so far...
If I remember correctly that's actually just a Samsung feature not a general feature of Bluetooth five
That is a Samsung specific fluff feature not in the Bluetooth standard. Allowing simultaneous connections to different devices is in the spec. Samsung had the idea to use it with speakers.
just installed the update looks good so far. only complaint is that the buttons sometimes register two taps instead of one. and that the UI is basically the same but overall so far so good
edit: for me its only the right button that double taps
only complaint is that the buttons sometimes register two taps instead of one.
So basically it's the OB2 with december's patch.
Those double taps almost made me feel crazy... Thanks for confirmation.
Yeah. Getting double haptic feedback taps typing on the keyboard every now and then.
I've been getting double taps on Nougat for months, dunno why
I've had to disable vibrations completely in everything other than ringtones because of this damn bug since Open Beta 1
any missing settings or reset apps?
While it is nice to see, gonna wait a bit on this one. The beta for the OP5 was much shorter than the the OP3 so I'll let others do the testing for me before I jump on board.
That's the right way my dude
Some screen shots after this update, feel free to ask for more, One plus five oreo https://imgur.com/gallery/KRERY
Thanks for the screenshots! What are the changes to the camera interface? Are there any changes in the Pro Mode?
Installed.
-No double tap issue (so far) I've felt it. Not impeding usability. But I could see it getting a bit annoying.
Quick settings has four columns now.
Dark theme pretty much the same. Same accent colours. No white (i.e. no accent colour) option still unfortunately.
Alarms is gone from the status bar pull down. Kind of annoying. No way to see what time alarm is set for and no way to have a shortcut to it from the quick settings as far as I can see.
All I got for now.
Does Netflix full HD work on this version already?
I never understood developers obsession with delivering updates before a holiday. If something breaks (as I'm seeing in the comments here) the early adopters and the uninformed have to suffer with a broken phone until a "hotfix" is released.
There are no holidays in China until February
I had OxygenOS 4.5.14 with TWRP on my oneplus 5. I downloaded OxygenOS 5.0 and installed the zip using TWRP and now the phone isn't booting up all. I can boot into TWRP but it is not booting into the phone OS at all. Not even any loading screen, just the landing screen with oneplus logo and android logo then black screen. I can't even copy any zips to the phone using TWRP, and the TWRP file manager is showing folders with jumbled names. How can I recover from this?
You won't be able to decrypt. Full wipe, flash, restore backed up data.
I was unable to install this in twrp, it had text saying error 7. Anyone got a solution?
please don't ruin the battery life
and.. did it? i'm quite hesitant on grabbing this update purely because of this
I'm just gonna wait 4 or 5 months until they fix all the undiscovered bullshit they introduced in this update.
And once they fixed the alert slider.
Ditto. ¯_(ツ)_/¯
Don't get too excited. It looks exactly like Nougat.
People forget about the background changes on a OS.
RIP blobs
Is this included now then? Would be nice if somebody could confirm
The new emojis are horrible, god why
Is this version better than the beta 2 ? I see changes here that i dont remember seeing in the beta changelog
Can someone screenshot the quick settings and settings? I'm gonna wait a little while after they rushed oreo out for the 3t
Just open YouTube and check the new subtle animation from portrait to landscape!!
Video
Are there also the new emojis?
Fingers crossed that no vibrate on fingerprint scan is intentional 🤞.
I like the vib :(
I like it without the vibration, I was hoping for it :)
Downloading right now. Not sure whether PiP is included but hey, let's hope it's there.
Merry Christmas!
What Is that Pulse icon on lift Up display?
Does this have the picture in picture mode for videos? That's probably my most anticipated feature.
I downloaded the OTA update to my phone and it won't boot up after installing. Anybody know any fix for this short of wiping?
How is LDAC? Can anyone test with wh-1000xm2?
I don't see the option for LDAC. I'm not sure how codecs are implemented on normal oreo. APTx and APTx HD are still under advanced options after the update, same as on nougat.
So 2 questions I hope somebody with the update can answer:
Does it have the new emoji (not the blobs)?
Can it connect to 2 or more Bluetooth devices simultaniously (and play on one while keeping the other connected)?
Does this release have split-screen support?
Wth happened to the link in the post?
The thread seems to have been deleted.
When can we update?
Anybody is getting a weird blueish hue on the screen? It feels like the DCI-P3 has been recalibrated.
Anyone else finding the fingerprint sensor is really shotty now?
Installed. Can't tell the difference (I have Nova launcher anyways). I guess icons are right. And Waze is crashing. And facebook. And instagram forgot my login infos.
My O+3T is buggy since Oreo. I recommend to the Oneplus 5 owner to wait a couple of weeks to see the feedbacks.
Seems pretty good so far. I love having the dot on the icon meaning it has a notification!
Anyone else having a problem with installing netflix? oh man..
Anyone else's Bluetooth audio quality seem to be worse after this update? I use AptX HD, and it sounds pretty bad.
Was it bad before the update?
Been using it all day. No problems except one and it's a big deal for me: Bluetooth is still janky same as in the open beta. I have to manually turn Bluetooth on and off before it connects to my car or my portable speaker.
Try an app called bluetooth auto connect. Works great for me and has a lot of bluetooth tweaking options.
Umm write too slow here (Chrome reddit) right now with oos5/oreo :/
Lagggggg
And... Where is the opt for delete all notifications?
I don't like this oreo notifications..
God damn you oneplus! Ambient display looks now so ugly that i was forced to disable it :(
Where did the thread go?
Man, I got the notification now and was excited at upgrading to Oreo, but this thread suggests that I may experience some heart ache if I do. Whats the final verdict? Should I upgrade now? Are all the troubling issues I read about here likely to happen to people or are there just an unlucky few?
How is the battery life XD
I'm kinda hesitant to download because my OP5 has been running so smooth and the battery life has been so good. I've been burned so many OTAs in the past with other phones. "We've made all these improvements", what actually happens is everything gets worse.
Carl Pei just confirmed via Twitter that it is coming to OP5
