The long-awaited Xiaomi SU7 is finally having its official debut. Despite the company taking the wraps off its first electric vehicle at the end of last year, the official premiere date was set for March 28. The event will take place at noon central European time and you can watch it with us, right here:

What can we expect? The SU7 is shaping up as one of the most important EVs to debut this year, its specification - at least on paper - promises a lot. It has all the latest tech, powerful electric drivetrains coupled with ample batteries that should deliver substantial range. Latest reports suggest the prices will be very attractive as well. All we need now is an official confirmation of the details.

SU7’s modular touchscreen is quite an interesting solution and the availability of add-ons have the potential to disrupt the EV market. Not only does it offer the best of both worlds when it comes to controls, but the possibility of future docking units with expanded functionality is undeniably exciting.

The most powerful version will reportedly be the SU7 FE, it rides on the 871V architecture and is powered by the Kirin battery and electric motors with a combined output of 1,074 hp, or 770 kW. There are no details available yet if it’s a dual or tri-motor setup. The monstrous torque figure of 1,276 Nm promises a 0 to 100 km/h sprint in just 1.98 seconds. If true, then that’s quicker than Tesla Model S Plaid - but that’s not even the best bit. The SU7 FE apparently will start at RMB 339,000 or €43,800 - that’s as much as a fully-specced Abarth 500e in Europe.

The cheapest Xiaomi SU7 will come with the 295 hp (220 kW) electric motor. This motor still pumps up a very respectable 400 Nm of torque and promises a rather brisk sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.28 seconds. This is also the only version built on the 500V architecture - that means 15 minutes of charging results in 330 km of range and the CLTC rates the 73.6 kWh LFP battery at 668 km. Rather impressive specs for a car that starts at €28,000.

There’s only one more question we need Xiaomi to answer - will the SU7 be available outside of China?
