Former U.S. Marine and pro-crypto lawyer John Deaton is now in a political race for the U.S. Senate seat against the current US Sen. Elizabeth Warren, who has occupied the office for two tenures.

Deaton released a campaign announcing his candidacy for the United States Senate in Massachusetts on Monday via an X post, saying, “I’m excited for the opportunity to fight for change and for the people of Massachusetts in the United States Senate.”

Renowned for his optimism in always representing the interests of cryptocurrency holders, this move propels Deaton to become a crypto representative in the political sphere.

Crypto Advocate Vs. Critic in Political Fight

As the 2024 electoral process garners anticipation, Deaton, a renowned crypto advocate, will fight to unseat a strong crypto critic, Warren. Considering their contrasting stance on cryptocurrency, this opposition goes beyond a political fight between the two candidates as it challenges the broader cryptocurrency space.

Warren’s consistent fight against cryptocurrencies has seen her push for tighter regulation of the crypto industry in Washington. Deaton is protesting that Warren has made no efforts to repair the United States capital despite her rants against cryptocurrencies.

“Washington, D.C. is broken, and in more than a decade in office. Elizabeth Warren has done nothing to fix it – in fact, she’s become a big part of the problem,” says Deaton in a recent X post.

Deaton Sees Support From Big Crypto Players

With ten years of experience in the Senate seat, Warren poses as a great contender for John Deaton, who will be running for senate for the first time. However, John has been seeing a strong following and backing from the crypto community, especially XRP holders, since the official announcement of his political run. 

Reactions regarding Deaton’s campaign launch suggest the crypto community is ready to go all out for the pro-crypto lawyer. While many crypto players in the US have begun making crypto donations to support this race, Warren, on the other hand, has taken to her donor base to rally for support upon news of Deaton’s challenge.
