Sap B1 Patch 2311 sluggish and slowing down system

Since upgrading to patch level 2311, the system becomes sluggish after a short while of using it.

This effects all apps, not only Sap B1. The computer becomes very slow but the issue is resolved immediately when closing SAP B1. When the system starts becoming sluggish, Sap B1 display also gets very slow and then distorted. Looks like fonts cannot be shown anymore in a correct way.

Is anybody else experiencing the same?

Prior patch level (2308 with HF) did not have this issue.

Investigating this in more detail revealed that the issue is caused by leaking GDI objects.
I think that the leak is always present but is more extreme in Item Master Data -> Inventory posting list.

Once the list is open, the GDI object count just continues to go up by 1-3/sec, easily shown in task manager.

Hope there will be a fix soon.

Hi mkaz,

This is indeed caused by GDI objects leak, there are 2 known scenarios that can cause this:

1/ Minimize B1 client -> GDI objects will grow by 2 / second (SAP Note 3424945)
2/ Put B1 client into windowed mode and keep changing the window size (SAP Note 3427590)

Both notes are being reviewed, so you will be not able to access those at the moment.
Workaround for the minimizing bug is to use Classic skin or just avoid minimizing the client (it can be maximized in background, that does not cause GDI objects leak).
I did not notice anything wrong with the Inventory Posting List, so I guess you were just looking at Task Manager while B1 client was minimized?

I see a hotfix 1 has been released for 2311. I wonder if this addresses the concerns raised regarding memory leakage and poor performance? Unfortunately change log documentation is non existent. Critical to know these things SAP people, as this affects upgrade planning etc.

I notice 2311 also produces MASSIVE SLD logs, even on a non production server (41GB x 2 files in a matter of a month with no usage). This is not ideal performance wise.

Hello Micheal,

we are facing the same issue. We are running SAP Business One 10 FP2311 under Windows 11.

After about half an hour the whole system (windows wide) starts to slow down. When SAP is closed, everything is back to normal. We also didn't face this issue prior to upgrading to FP2311.

Thank you for your input.

We have no add-ons running.

Sap B1 starts to slow down the system if left open for a while. Even just leaving the menu open without any other screen will cause this. I think it is slowly leaking display resources causing SAP B1 after a few hours to not be able to show fonts correctly anymore or refresh the window.

Did you test the new patch on the test environment?

Please disable all the add-ons and try, usually after B1 upgrade add-ons also require a new version according to the new patch.

If you do not have an add-on please try to identify on which screen or step sap slows down, which will lead you to find out the root cause.
