  • Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry has abolished the requirement for citizens to submit digital documents on physical media such as floppy disks and CD-ROMs.
  • Until recently, nearly 2,000 government procedures necessitated the use of these outdated storage mediums.
  • The ministry has altered 34 ordinances, including those related to energy and weapons manufacturing, to eliminate the need for floppy disks.
