Hello to the ProductHunt community! I've just discovered this pure gem! I love flowcharts to get my ideas down on paper and, above all, to be able to understand them later. Drakon's few main rules are extremely simple, but very powerful. I hope you enjoy this nugget as much as I do!
How is it compared to mermaidjs?

@kingromstar I really like mermaidJS, it's very practical, especially with its compatibility with Notion and Github. I think you can use the main principles of Drakon in MarmaidJS: - Line intersections are forbidden, - Only straight lines and right angles are allowed, - Arrows are replaced with plain lines, - Time in the diagram flows downwards; branching goes to the right.

These principles ensure that flowcharts are much easier to read. On the other hand, some layouts are difficult to reproduce in Mermaid JS. MermaidJS lacks the customization required to arrange flowcharts properly. Drakon is natively designed to respect these principles. Drakon also brings a few new features (Silhouette, common fate...) compared to MermaidJS, although it's certainly possible to find an alternative with MermaidJS.

The other main difference is overall compatibility. I don't know of any application that supports "Drakon" display and formatting, unlike MarmaidJS, which is systematically written as text.

DRAKON is more than just a visual language—it's a powerful tool originating from the aerospace industry designed for representing algorithms, processes, and procedures. The primary goal of DRAKON is to make complex procedures easy to comprehend. Its visual approach simplifies the communication of intricate concepts, enhancing understanding and facilitating clear communication, particularly in domains where precision and clarity are crucial, such as aerospace. DRAKON is your key to translating complexity into clarity. ✈️📊
Thanks @barnabed for hunting this tool. I'm a big fan of mind-mapping tools. I can never get enough 😅.
@duniachap Thanks for your message! I'm a big mindmap fan. I really like the very understandable layout Drakon uses for mind maps. I've finally found something better than the rounded curves of the usual management tools ;)
