Swedish furniture behemoth IKEA has debuted MYRKISEL, a new line of smart home products, in China. The line, created in collaboration with Mijia – Xiaomi’s ecosystem.

MYRKISEL seems to be a budget sibling to IKEA’s previous Zigbee TRÅDFRI and STYRBAR lines that work with IKEA Home smart gateways and apps. And the design does not change much compared to previous lineups. The new MYRKISEL includes six light bulbs at a lower cost, as well as a dimmer.

Take the MYRKISEL dimmer with four buttons as an example. Priced at RMB 39.99 ($5.48), it’s just 40% of the price of the original STYRBAR model, while retaining identical look.
IKEA also brought a two-button Zigbee dimmer, the Rodret, to its Chinese inventory. This item will cost consumers RMB 49.99.
Of note, IKEA has discontinued the sale of its gateways in China, including the Hong Kong region, for some time now. This has left their remotes and light bulbs less intelligent and less able to connect with other devices.
Instead, IKEA has been advocating for the use of dimmers and motion sensors to directly control light bulbs in China.
