換用 PCIe 4.0 NVMe 控制器，Western Digital 推出 WD Blue SN580 NVMe SSD
Western Digital 首款 PCIe 5.0 NVMe SSD 的開發進度暫時未知，他們在那到來之前，先更新了主流定位的 WD Blue 系列，WD Blue SN580 NVMe SSD 升級換用 PCIe 4.0 介面控制器，存取速度最高來到 4,150MB/s。
WD Blue 系列是針對一般應用所設計，先前產品 WD Blue SN570 / SN550 NVMe SSD，皆植基於自家 PCIe 3.0 x4 NVMe 控制器與 TLC 3D NAND，共通點還包含屬於 DRAM-less 類型。新推出的 WD Blue SN580 NVMe SSD 主要是因應市場趨勢轉變，也換用 PCIe 4.0 x4、NVMe 1.4b 控制器，性能提高了不等幅度。
WD Blue SN580 NVMe SSD 提供 250GB、500GB、1TB、2TB 等常見容量選項，其中 1TB 與 2TB 版本擁有較佳性能，循序存取最高達 4,150MB/s，較 WD Blue SN570 NVMe SSD 至多 3,500MB/s 高出一些。而 4K 隨機存取吞吐量方面，最高為讀取 600,000IOPS、寫入 750,000IOPS，這部分超越前代的幅度更多一些。
產品依然提供 5 年有限保固服務，設計耐寫（用）度維持相同水準，基數 150TBW（250GB 容量版本）。不過 2TB 容量版本只標示 900TBW，並非 1TB 版本那 600TBW 倍增，這情況還算常見。建議售價依容量由小至大排列，分別為 28 美元、32 美元、50 美元、110 美元，Western Digital 應該很快就會引進台灣銷售。
