Thoughtworks Work Experience

After finishing my BTech, I was very excited to join Thoughtworks. Unfortunately, just as I was about to start, the COVID-19 pandemic began, and I had to work from home instead of experiencing the office environment. Still, those 3 years at TW were the most unforgettable time of my life, even though I was at home. I learned so much during those three years of remote work, and just thinking about the exposure and learning opportunities in an actual office is truly amazing. If you ever get the chance to work with Thoughtworks, grab it with open arms and a big smile.

If you are in a dilemma Why Thoughtworks, just go through the next few lines, and your question will change to Why not Thoughtworks.

Thoughtworks is an awesome company where I never felt forced to do any work I didn’t like. I never had thoughts like “Why did they assign me this boring task?” or “This project is pointless.” I always felt like my role aligned well with my skills, and I had plenty of opportunities to learn and grow. I was always motivated and excited to face new challenges each day.

My TW journey started with the NEEV training which was pretty extensive and enriching at the same time. It is designed to help graduates move out of the student life and confidently mold themselves into the world of projects, clients, responsibilities, culture, agile practices etc.

I worked on 2 projects and both of them were really good. Plus point is that my team had a great bond, we had fun Thursdays, Ice Cream Meters for later joiners, chai pe charcha sessions, etc.

We are always asked about our preferences while staffing to our project, so you’ll never feel as if you are working on something you are not interested in. I love the fact that we don’t have any restrictions as far as the domain is concerned. If you like teaching and spreading your knowledge, you can organize workshops at campus, Cod(H)erSpace, mentor new joinees, etc and everyone is so enthusiastic and supports you positively. You can volunteer for taking interviews; I took about 100 interviews in 2 years.

Thoughtworks is well known for its Pair Programming concept. 2 Developers together work on a piece of of code so that instead of one brain and 2 eyes, we use 2 brains and four eyes. If one person overlooks something, the other is there to back them up.

All varieties of festivals are celebrated in the offices all over India and you’ll get to enjoy the awesome free food in the canteen. Thoughtworks also gives a lot of benefits on health, learnings, telecom, food etc. we also have a lot of games organised in our offices time to time. So, you’ll get to participate, socialise, and win many prizes too.

We have a Lumos program which is designed for our personal growth. We are assigned some guides who will help us nurture our skills and help us achieve our goals. It puts a structure and framework of how we can take help and communicate effectively with the experienced Thoughtworkers. I learnt a lot from my guides and tech leads.

A place referred as ‘Bench’ in other companies is known as ‘Beach’ here. Opportunities come like sea waves, you get to choose whatever you like.

You just have to build confidence in yourself and Thoughtworks, as an organization will definitely create an opportunity to support you. All these ideologies motivates us to be a part of this esteemed organization and justify Why Thoughtworks. I hope I might have solved your dilemma and you will have great experience without any regrets.
