I'm Mo, cofounder and CEO at Noor. Today, my 3 teammates and I are so excited to show you what we've been using for teamwork instead of traditional apps.

A lot of people told us that don't compete with big players. But we believed we can do 10x better — Our team has been iterating on Noor for 2.5 years, going through 16 major iterations. Going from a simple Electron menubar app to a full-on native teamwork app.

Noor is • lightweight • starts instantly • has a great rich text editor • utilises native capabilities for ease of use • natively integrates with your Linear

It's built on 4 principles: • Default to deep work and async • Allow high-bandwidth realtime collaboration • Give user the option to choose their level of presence (go from deep work -> whiteboard via voice in a click) • Fade into the background

This team ships! At @todesktop we've been using Noor since the early days and they have been uber-responsive to feature requests and bug reports. This is legitimately a Slack replacement! It's clear that Mo and the team have thought deeply about what small teams need to truly excel.

Favourite feature? The tasks feature with Linear integration makes it easy to see what everything is working on. Before, we tried doing a text "standup" on Slack every morning but the Tasks feature on Noor is 10x better.

Congratulations on the launch! Noor definitely has something that I would really love to see on messaging platforms - it (kind of) reminds me of Discord x Slack but MORE. I'm wondering, would you be open to having this on Windows as well? If yes, is there a timeline? Thank you!

Keep up the fantastic work. Amazing product. Diligent team. Brilliant idea. Can you tell us a bit more about how this product is better than Slack?

@adetokunbo_abiola Hey! To summarize, even though we both have chat, the approach to teamwork (how a day of work looks like in Noor vs Slack/Discord) is different.

In Slack you mostly type messages in different channels. wanna know who's working on what right now? send a DM. Want to talk in voice? Send a DM. Want to ask a teammate to help? Send a DM. And always trigger a notification. This is why most people prefer to quit Slack when they're working deeply or just mute all notifications. Checking Slack is a distraction, we built Noor to be tranquil. Sitting like a bird on your shoulder. Whenever you need it it's there. And if you don't, you can forget about it.
