Multiple forests of paper and boatloads of ink have been used to discuss the latest AI technology, including ChatGPT. In a recent interview with Tucker Carlson, Elon Musk explained how he was involved in OpenAI from the beginning. He said ChatGPT-1 was unimpressive and didn’t seem to be able to do very much. Once the second version was developed, it was clear the technology really was going somewhere meaningful. Now we have ChatGPT-4, and while users have been blown away by its enormous and wide-ranging capabilities, the technology is a dinosaur compared to what we are all about to see in the next one or two versions.

In March, developer Siqi Chen stated on Twitter: “I have been told that gpt5 is scheduled to complete training this December and that openAI expects it to achieve agi. Which means we will all hotly debate as to whether it actually achieves agi. Which means it will.”

The idea that ChatGPT-5 will include generative AI (AGI) is immensely significant and portends a serious change for our future. Life as we know it will begin to change in drastic ways. AGI combined with Chat-GPT means we will have computers that will begin to show signs of some level of digital consciousness. Many of us may be speciesists, believing that humans are unique and not on the same level as animals - at least intellectually - but the introduction of extraordinarily intelligent computing may soon put us humans to shame.

ChatGPT-5 is on everyone’s minds, but it is thoroughly intriguing to ponder what will be next in versions six or seven and beyond. Version five will incorporate AGI and may even present us with the text-to-video option - something that has not yet been offered in this format by OpenAI. With AGI, productivity will increase, and monotonous, grueling work will hopefully come to an end. Workers in cubicles may finally see the light of day if their tedious work and bland tasks become the work of smart computing.

It could change the automotive industry, making decisions on its own with basic inputs. Perhaps it will save more lives without humans making decisions on the roads. Education will be hugely affected by AGI as the classroom will become a much better immersive environment. Teachers and students will be able to mesh learning and computing in real-time, and information will be more easily accessible and fun. The boring classroom of old will hopefully be no more.

This groundbreaking technology will improve the way the Internet of Things (IoT) operates, allowing consumers to interact with their smart devices in a much more fascinating and intelligent way as these devices, such as vacuum robots and smart refrigerators, for instance, could be able to make decisions on their own based on AGI technology.

Some people are concerned that AGI means devices can develop thoughts and personalities on their own. For instance, what happens when the fridge decides it is tired of sitting in one place and wants to explore the house the way the robot vacuum does? What if the garage door opener is bored or the living room lights decide they are too bright? Could air conditioning units decide on their own how hot or cold a room should be, even if its owner specifies a certain temperature? In other words, will humans lose control over our electronic devices if they are powered by AGI?

These concerns are specific to consumer devices and pose no real threat to humanity. The question - and this is what Elon Musk and plenty of others are worried about - is what happens when AGI is introduced into the military? Could AGI reliably control weapons and dangerous machinery? Because of these concerns, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman announced during his recent global tour that the company is not working on the successor to GPT-4 for a while. Musk has called for a timeout to explore the possibilities of risk and what is being done to mitigate those risks.

AI may have unintended consequences, and while no one is too concerned about a robot takeover of our planet just yet, there are plenty of other things to worry about, such as the spread of misinformation online by out-of-control AGI bots and so on.

ChatGPT-5 combined with AGI comes with concerns, but it could indeed be a game changer for nearly every industry that relies on productivity or creativity, or both. The incredible technology can be combined with numerous other applications to deliver phenomenal results through text, images, or video. Holographic AGI will be an incredible step as well, with 3D capability adding an entirely new level of experience to just about everything. Imagine going to the movie theaters and sitting in the middle of a 3D battlefield as a war rages around you, placing you directly into the action. 2D movies will be out as 3D holographic AGI takes over. People can have meetings in real time with all levels of experience using AGI technology. Nearly every application will see an upgrade if they incorporate AGI.

It is clear that ChatGPT-5 could have far-reaching effects on our lives and on the products we use daily. Some of us are worried, but most of us can’t wait to see and experience this next level of mind-blowing technology as we make leaps and bounds into the future.
