You Can Turn Your Photos Into Animated Stickers With iOS 17
The Messages app on the iPhone and iPad has supported stickers for several years now, but Apple in iOS 17 is overhauling the sticker experience to make them more important.
In addition, you can make your own stickers using the remove subject from background tool that Apple added for images in iOS 16.
In any of your images in Photos (or images from Safari or another location), you can long press on the subject of the photo to highlight it and to bring up an options interface.
Stickers that you have created can be used through the sticker interface in the Messages app, accessible by tapping on the "+" button and then "Stickers." You can insert stickers as single images, or add them to messages and photos, which is how stickers have worked since the feature was introduced.

Those replying that it’s gimmicky, yeah, it absolutely is. But stickers are used widely throughout latin america on whatsapp. they're incredibly popular. stickers might not be for you, but they do have an audience.I can see where you’re coming from. But tell me that presentation wasn’t cringy. “For when the group chat is blowng up.” She couldn’t even say it with a straight face. I guess I’m just getting old but even when I was younger I did not like the Snapchatification of everything.
I’m hoping this didn’t actually take a lot of development time and it was just the byproduct of other stuff they’re working on. Phone and Messages do need huge updates but not one single thing they announced is actually anything they needed. Facetime voicemail was the best part of that segment, everything else was very disappointing to me.
