Microsoft to Integrate Bing Search into OpenAI’s ChatGPT

Microsoft Bing Chat

At the Microsoft Build 2023 developer event today, the company made a couple of important announcements. It revealed that Microsoft and OpenAI are working on a new ecology of chat robot plugins. Also, the company confirmed that Windows 11 soon get a new AI assistant called Copilot. The latest report, as well as one of the high points of the event, is Microsoft’s confirmation that Bing search will soon directly integrate into OpenAI’s ChatGPT.

Microsoft Bing Chat

Since the debut of its Bing chatbot earlier this year, Microsoft has been using OpenAI’s tech as its main partner. Of course, the software giant has its funds in the ChatGPT project.

In a blog post, Microsoft said: “ChatGPT will now have a world-class search engine built in to provide more timely, updated answers and pull information from the web. ChatGPT’s answers can now be based on search and web data, and Include quotes so you can learn more—all directly in chat.”

Subscribers to ChatGPT Plus will get the new Bing search feature first. However, it will also be available to free users in the near future via a plugin that will add Bing search to the chatbot. Speaking of plugins, Microsoft announced in early May that Bing Chat will support third-party plugins. Today at Build 2023, the company confirmed that developers will be able to create plugins that work on a number of different platforms, including Bing Chat, ChatGPT, Dynamics 365 Copilot, Microsoft 365 Copilot, and Windows Copilot.
