In its recent update, Discord has removed the four-digit tags attached to the usernames so that users can interact with friends and have greater control over their online identity.

The option for users to have four-digit digits at the end of their identities was recently removed from the well-known chat and audio communication platform Discord. Based on user feedback, this modification was implemented to enhance platform users’ overall experiences.
In the future, alphanumeric, lowercase, and just a few special characters will be allowed in usernames. All platform users will have to adjust their usernames due to the recent modification.
Additionally, the new username you choose will only last for a while. If you choose something you don’t like, you can modify it, though “not too frequently,” according to the blog.
The blog also mentions, “Over the coming weeks, every user will become eligible to change their username from their old username with discriminators (#0000) to a new username (@username) without discriminators. All users will eventually be required to pick a new, unique username to use Discord.”
This move will compel the majority of users to change their usernames because Discord will no more have the four-number tag that separates users with the same username from one another, as was mentioned in a blog post on the company’s website.
Users have been significantly impacted by the removal of four-digit numbers from usernames. Because they are used to having digits in their identities, several users have expressed annoyance with the move. Others, though, have embraced the change since it enables them to make more distinctive usernames.
Members who are currently using four-digit numbers at the end of their usernames are permitted to keep them, according to Discord. New users won’t be allowed to create usernames that contain four-digit digits, nevertheless.
“We recognise that this is a big change. There may be hiccups with this process, and it may be tough to part ways with that ‘#0001’ that’s meant a lot to you over the years. Discord co-founder Stanislav Vishnevskiy stated, “We’ll be doing everything we can to manage things as smoothly as possible.
Discord states that once it stops using the numerical tag, your old username, and discriminator will continue to function as an alias. This implies that your old username will still help your friends find you.
Discord has made it clear that it is dedicated to enhancing its platform and giving consumers the greatest experience possible. One stage in this approach is to eliminate the requirement for four-digit numbers.
Discord intends to keep considering user suggestions and implementing modifications as necessary in the future. The platform’s creators are continuously working to increase the platform’s capabilities while also making sure that users may continue to utilize it securely.
Discord thinks the move would ultimately make the platform more user-friendly and inspire users to be more imaginative with their identities, even though some users have expressed annoyance with it.
It would be interesting to watch what further modifications are implemented in response to user feedback as Discord develops and gets better. Discord is dedicated to giving its users the greatest experience possible, that much is certain.
