LineageOS 19.1 for SM-T580 (gtaxlwifi), SM-T585 (gtaxllte), SM-P580 (gtanotexlwifi), and SM-P585 (gtanotexllte)

New builds for 20230419 Downloads: For gtaxlwifi: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1HYynOu6aGNBjYQ4Xa2PgV3bfFV_MNkfX/ For gtaxllte: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1KgsUF_S2mUKAz7_vlHc8-EriN0MeGIlT/ For gtanotexlwifi: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1i-Ixj9H0CXqFOmgL4pArds2c2DtliDEI/ For gtanotexllte: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1_JC0PrPNPWSjzuAbZHPYwBfQwNmm_G19/ Changelog: Wow, I didn't notice how long I really left this stuff for.

Anyway, some nice improvements in these builds. The kernel updates are behind by a month due to... yep, a lack of time and other previously mentioned reasons. As always, I'll try getting them in at some point later. I'm really hoping these don't become unsustainable, keeping up and trying to defy that the 3.18 kernel is no longer maintained upstream since a really long while is certainly becoming more difficult.

In any case, enjoy.

And now for mass replying....

@TALUAtXDA did you test FBE on lineage 19.1? Btw, will you try to port android 13?

Yes, I have. I've been using FBE on my gtaxllte running 19.1. It has been working fine.

As for 13(/LineageOS 20.0), I'm not really sure when I'll get around to it. I'm especially demotivated for it since it doesn't actually have much going for it over 12L, and the stuff with FBE would be a huge mess. Might explain later, but I've sprinkled around explanations in previous posts that you can look back at.

First of all thank you for your work

Before I switch to 19.1: how often do you plan to release updates?

You're welcome.
Well, according to the changelog, that's usually a month, though I'm thinking about switching to releasing updates every three months just so I don't get overwhelmed at this point, which I hope to not need to do.

Bluetooth doesn't work for me at all, I can't even turn it on. I tried resetting the "Bluetooth" app from Package Manager as well as deleting data in settings, but that didn't make any difference.

I'm using the SM-T580

If you still have those problems, please get a log from logcat, taken between before trying to enable Bluetooth and after the crash message, and send it to me in a PM. That's the only way I could get relevant information that might help with finding a root cause.

Hi @TALUAtXDA

Thank you very, very much for your great work and efforts!

I am an LOS user from Germany, have two Samsung Galaxy S7 running with LOS 20 (the ROM is from @Ivan_Meler ) and since yesterday I also own a used Samsung Galaxy Tab A 10.1 (2016) (SM-T580).

The SM-T580 arrived here yesterday morning with Android 8 .01 (Oreo, Stock ROM), and in the afternoon I had successfully installed your LOS 19.1 ROM for it, including OpenGapps Pico.

Also the removing of the Navbar hat worked properly.

So, I really appreciate that.

Furthermore I have read here in this tread, that you are ill.

I wish you a soon and full recovery - and these are no empty works, I really know, what I am talking about: I am 60 years old, but severly handicaped, and sit in the wheelchair, because I have a weird nerve disease, what makes my legs totally bad.

So, your health is most important, stays over all other stuff, take care and get well as soon as possible.

I really would like to transmit you a donation, but I dont have Paypal. If you want, please give me a private message and tell me, how I can donate your efforts!

Greetings from Germany

You're very welcome.

I see. It's interesting you should mention S7's. I relatively recently happen to have got two S7 Edge's - One in a hilariously bad state, other with a small crack but with no display burn-in(!). I'm now using the one with the small crack as my main phone.
I'm using LineageOS 19.1 built using my own sources, with improvements, based on old official Lineage 18.1 sources, and not using Ivan's sources. I haven't published my sources for reasons I won't really explain, as much as I don't like that.
But anyway, good to know everything went smoothly.

As for my illness, while I don't want to share very many details, I doubt there will be any recovery, at least anytime soon, sadly. It has been ongoing for ages, it's just all getting progressively worse; Things are moving very slowly with appointments and whatnot.
Regardless, I appreciate your wishes. I can only imagine how horrible that must be.

I don't have any options for donations for now, I might get some method later on.
I actually personally wouldn't want to use PayPal myself, but I'm not sure of any real alternatives. Do you happen to know of anything you could suggest?

dear everybody here,

today I found a great feature within TALLAtXDA`s excellent work you might be interesred in:
Switching dpi to ~400 something (only) by
using a height of 2560 and width of 1600,
I got enormous speed with every app and
scrolling and battery usage is still acceptable.

background: As I had read through some changelog of lineageos concerning resolution I had noticed some comment on the possibility of switching to WQXGA+ (2560x1600) with Android 12L...
Then I saw all your concerns about widevine 1 vs other levels and I knew that some higher dpi number (more dots per inch) gives a better image quality on your screen (although consuming a little more energy from your huge tablet battery).
I used an app to switch from native WUXGA to the 2nd higher resolution (Attention!: 2048x1280 slowed down every action on my T580, so don`t use it, please, yet maybe just make a preview). You may use adb on your PC with a usb cable attached, typing somethig like: adb shell wm size 2560x1600
and maybe: adb shell wm density 427 (?) for your dpi value

Have fun

This is entirely pointless.
There's not going to be any "enormous speed" from such changes, that's all placebo. You can't get more performance by having more pixels needing to be processed.

Physically, the resolution of the display is 1920x1200 and there are 226 pixels per Inch. There's no getting around these physical properties of the display. You can't get any clarity benefits and whatnot from setting a higher resolution and DPI along with it - There's not enough pixels to physically display the higher resolution, and the physical pixel density remains unchanged. You only add more work on the GPU with downscaling in what you finally see.

I installed the 19.1 and it seems working.

But my Tab A is now very slow, everywhere (for example, I has to wait 1 minute between the ejecting USB mass storage and the confirmation notification). Or menus are slow.
In 17.1 it was fast.

Someone has de same problem?

See the third point under the "LineageOS 19.1/Android 12 usability fixes" section in the original post - That's most likely where the cause lies.

Are you able to decrypt data in twrp?

Original post - Issues and workarounds section:

Something notable is that with Android 12, encrypted data can't be decrypted in TWRP recovery. That problem can only be fixed within TWRP, but with the fixes only being in Android 12L TWRP sources, which we can't build our TWRP builds from due to issues, it continues to exist.
@TALUAtXDA Thanks for this beautiful ROM... I feel my tablet as new again...
Let me ask a thing. I have installed AospMods to customise a bit, but after that I found no module in Lsposed and no AospMods app... Is it incompatible with your ROM?

Neither are supported at all. Please avoid using such things - They're likely to cause bugs that can appear like they're within my builds. If you still want to use either, or anything similar, and get them working, please don't ever report any problems while using them.

In my opinion NikGapps are better...

I'm not sure what the situation is now, but NikGapps packages at least were more problematic at one point, as I've explained in my original post, so it could be better to use the modded OpenGapps packages I've linked.

(In any case, using MicroG or even no Google apps would be preferable if possible. Privacy benefits and whatnot aside, going either way, there's very nicely lowered resource usage, especially useful with the measly 2GB of RAM these non-S-Pen devices have.)

Hello and happy easter.
Will there be a new update?

Out of respect, please don't ask if there will be new updates, or for any ETA's. Remember I'm doing all this for free, and there may be changes causing delays. If there will be any, they'll eventually be released. Patience is a virtue.
