BYD today announced the launch of an intelligent control system in Shenzhen, another step toward its goal of becoming the world's leading electric vehicle maker.

The system, named DiSus, is a full-stack self-developed solution tailored for new energy vehicles (NEVs). With the launch of the system, BYD has become the first Chinese automobile manufacturer to own intelligent vehicle body control technology throughout.

As the Chinese auto giant explains, the DiSus system can help ensure the vehicle is agile and effectively compatible in most driving scenarios, minimizing the risk of vehicle rollover and reducing the displacement of occupants during high-speed cornering, full-throttle acceleration, or emergency braking. In addition, the BYD DiSus System can protect the vehicle from scratches and damages under a variety of road conditions such as snowy, muddy, and water areas.

DiSus can be further divided into the Intelligent Damping Body Control System (DiSus-C), the Intelligent Air Body Control System (DiSus-A), and the Intelligent Hydraulic Body Control System (DiSus-P). In addition, BYD also unveiled DiSus-X as the highlight of the evening. DiSus-X combines the essence of the three above systems, and is seen as the most advanced version of DiSus.

The crowd cheered when the BYD YangWang U9 equipped with DiSus-X bounced and jumped on stage[, according to videos posted on Weibo. ]The funny dance that U9 performed is enabled by DiSus’s wheel control abilities. With DiSus, the four wheels can adjust heights independently and maintain a smooth driving experience even when hitting bumps on the road.

When the U9 bounced, its wheels were lifted above the ground. 

Even if one of the wheel falls off in extreme circumstances, the car would still be able to maintain its balance and run stably, according to Wang Chuanfu, the Chairman and President of BYD, who remarked the DiSus will “further secure the globally pioneering stance for BYD in the industry.”

The BYD DiSus System will be available in several models under the BYD Dynasty series, BYD Ocean series, DENZA, Yangwang, and “the new brand launching this summer that specializes in professional and personalized identities,” according to the company.
