If you're on the western side of our ol' blue marble, you might have to get up early, or stay up late, to catch this weekend's race on Sunday. So good thing you won't be having to fumble through the internet trying to find out where to watch the Australian F1 live stream for free this Sunday. Long story short: our Aussie cousins are enjoying a free F1 live stream courtesy of 10Play, but if you're not in Australia, you'll need a VPN to get around the geo-blockers.

That's the best way to watch the Australian F1 race online for free with English commentary, but we have a few other free options dotted around Europe that you could try too via that VPN assist. We've got you covered with local UK and US coverage if you'd prefer. Oh, and if the race isn't on at a convenient time for you, there's a lengthy highlight show running a few hours later we can point you to - it's essentially the whole race and is the option I'll be opting for.

There are a range of solid methods to watch this weekend's race for free if you use a VPN. If you want English commentary, the Australian route is your best option as highlighted above. This will let you watch the Australian GP live from anywhere in the world.

Our preferred option of all the best VPN providers is ExpressVPN, which comes with a 30-day money-back guarantee if you're unsatisfied. Check out the latest deal details below. If you're looking for something a little cheaper though, both Surfshark and NordVPN are fine alternatives.

How to watch the Australian F1 live stream with a VPN

  • Sign up for a VPN if you don't have one.
  • Install it on the device you're using to watch the race.
  • Turn it on and set it to an Australian location.
  • Head over to 10Play.
  • Create free account and sign in to watch the race.
  • Race start: 1 a.m. ET / 6 a.m. BST / 7 a.m. CET

What about extended highlights at a better time?

As eager as I am to see Alonso stop all the kids having a great time, 6am is just too early for a Sunday. Instead, I'll check into Channel 4's extended highlights show, which I often use during the season if I can avoid hearing the result beforehand. Today the program is on earlier than its usual evening slot and can be seen from 12:30 p.m. BST with coverage of the event lasting two and a half hours - it really feels like the entire race in all honesty. You can tune in on the Channel 4 website online and use a VPN as outlined above to tune in from outside the UK.

ExpressVPN Plan

With its consistent performance, reliable security, and expansive global streaming features, ExpressVPN is the best VPN out there, excelling in every spec and offering many advanced features that makes it exceptional. Better yet, you can save up to 49% and get an extra three months for free today.

How to watch an F1 live stream in the US

ESPN carries coverage of Formula 1 racing throughout the season, and there's plenty of it left to enjoy too. If you don't already have access to the channel, then there are a couple of cord-cutting options for you to consider. Sling TV's Orange tier is usually $40 a month, but a special offer right now sees that first month's price slashed to just $20.

Fubo TV also has ESPN but is much more expensive at $74.99 a month. It's very packed though and is a favorite amongst cord-cutting sports fans. Better yet, you can actually get a 7-day free trial, so enjoy the race for free and cancel your sub before the week is up if you don't want to keep Fubo.

Sling TV Subscription
Sling is one of the most affordable live TV streaming services you can sign up for. New members can now receive their first month for a discounted rate of just $20.
Fubo TV (Pro Plan)

FuboTV is one of the lesser-known streaming services, but it's worth considering for those who love entertainment and non-traditional sports programming. It's pricey, but there is currently a 7-day free trial, so you can take it for a spin first.

Note: The use of VPNs is illegal in certain countries and using VPNs to access region-locked streaming content might constitute a breach of the terms of use for certain services. Insider does not endorse or condone the illegal use of VPNs.
