Why is it only for my core team?

This is a place for you and your core team to get stuff done together, quicker & lighter. And that means letting go of things that increase cognitive load.

Use email and slack for those one-off conversations with others. Those tools are great for that sort of thing.

You can only mark 3 channels as priority, which further enables more flow state with the people top of mind. Everyone has a different set of people and channels that are important.

Can I try it out for free?

Please check our pricing page to view plans. We currently offer a 14 day trial for the startup plan.

Why voice only?

tldr; it's less cognitive load.

Voice disambiguates messages. There is less load to process information with the pitch and tonality in someone's voice. It increases retention; you will remember what someone said and how they said it more clearly than written text.

It's easier. It allows communicating in flow without having to translate what's in your head to written text.

What is the max member limit for a flowy channel?

12. Channels with more than 12 people defeat the purpose of focused, flow state conversations.

We recommend only using flowy for you and your core team. The people you spend 80% of your time with. It's likely 3-8, whether you are an individual contributor, manager, or even CEO.

This core set of people should be a push of a button away from you.

How is this different to a slack thread and zoom meeting?

There are times when a scheduled zoom meeting, email, or slack thread can be useful for larger audiences or one-off cross-functional commz.

That being said, walkie-talkies have a unique position when it comes to communication. It's like the other person is right there. It is generally less friction and enables more free-flowing conversation in the present moment.

How about slack huddles?

Slack huddles still have some friction. They are preceeded by pinging people via text first, jumping into the huddle, waiting for the other person to join, standard small talk, then proceeding.

This is why flowy's initial mode of interaction is it's walkie-talkie mode, to enable free-flowing communication.

However, a huddle is very useful in some cases, and that's why flowy has a huddle feature (for times when you need to be around the same table to solve something).

Is this for remote teams only?

While it is best suited for remote and hybrid teams, many teams can use this as a proxy for bumping someone across the room or on another floor.

"Hey Alex, down to get lunch at that sandwhich place in 20?"

Can I play back messages?

Short answer, yes. You can play back the last 24 hours of messages in a channel.

Keeping it ephemeral enables our philosophy to enable more free-flowing conversation. Flowy shouldn't be a super formal place for your team. It's a place for you and your core team to get stuff done together, quicker. And that means, letting go of all of the things that would increase cognitive load.
