Allo: The Mindful Money Practice
Pay attention to your well-being, not just your numbers
👋🏽 Hey PH community, cofounder of Allo here.
Meet Allo - the mindful money practice. We built Allo to help us go beyond the numbers and improve our financial well-being.
What do we mean by that?
Here are some of what you can expect: - A deeper awareness of the values that drive your financial decisions. - Spending and saving with more confidence and purpose. - A mindset of abundance and gratitude through your own personal definition of what’s “enough”. - Ability to navigate difficult money conversations with your partner, parents, and other loved ones. - Lasting behavior shifts to bring your finances in better alignment with your priorities. - A sense of peace from knowing nothing is amiss and you are in control.
Your journey starts with the intro practice — five sessions of just 5 minutes that you can do at your own pace. Afterward, you will design your own practice at a daily, weekly, or monthly cadence, depending on your goals.
Special offer for Product Hunters 🎁.
We still have a waitlist, BUT the first 200 to sign-up can skip the waiting list with HUNTER invite code. And everyone else that signs up via Product Hunt today gets onboarded before everyone else.
Allo currently only works in the United States, so if you’re not in the US, you are welcome to sign up https://allo.finance/ and we'll notify you when we are ready for you.
We are just getting started, but in my weekly money practice on Allo I find myself becoming more intentional and grateful to spend on things that are important to me: like date nights with my wife, amazing preschool for our kids, and healthy food at the farmers market, to name a few.
We would be honored to have you join Allo if you currently feel stressed out about money or simply want to be more mindful of how you are spending.
Please give us feedback and reach out to say hi. Our team will be around to answer questions and note down feedback, so if you have something on your mind, please share!
Many thanks,
Paul
@ptmw let’s gooooooo! I love your guys’ products and heart towards mindfulness and gratitude.
How has Allo been helpful for you? And how have others in your life been blessed through Allo?
@nkr if you have a budgeting app that works for you, that’s awesome! The reality is that the ability to make and stick to a budget defies the realities of most people's lives. Expenses fluctuate a lot every month and we are generally too optimistic about what a reasonable budget should be. This requires a tremendous amount of willpower to stick to a budget and most of us end up giving up.
A lot of people that have tried using a budgeting app have failed and experienced guilt and shame. Allo’s goal is simple — to help create an awareness practice where you regularly review your cashflow and your priorities, without judgment or blame. Be aware of both where you feel grateful and also anything you want to change. Research has shown that awareness leads to behavior change, but at the core, this focus on building an awareness practice is what sets Allo apart.
@nkr Thanks Naroo! I'll take the second question —
Although Allo is currently free as part of the Early Access Program, we do plan to charge a monthly fee for Allo so we can focus on building the best product and not advertise products you don't need. Allo helps you be more aware of the products and services that you are happy to spend money on — our goal is to be one of them!
Hi PH! So pumped to finally be sharing Allo here. What excites me the most about building Allo is the conviction that a more fulfilling financial life is not just about making my numbers go up (although sometimes that’s important too! :-)), but also about understanding & cultivating the right mindset around money. It’s been a fun challenge learning about, taking cues from, and combining various ideas from the worlds of mindfulness, behavioral psychology, personal finance, and even a little philosophy of happiness!
Equally important, Paul and I agreed early on that we wanted to make sure we are creating a responsible and principled piece of software that we are proud of. That means not selling personal data, not spamming our users with unwanted notifications, not using manipulative UX patterns to juice our metrics, and not fueling FOMO or the endless quest for more.
It’s been a long and windy path here, but it still feels like day 1 :-) I’m eager to hear your feedback and excited to continue improving Allo so it can deliver on its promise. Many thanks to Paul for being the best partner I could hope for on that journey!
