Linux 基金会发布 “衡量开源经济价值” 的报告。由 Henry Chesbrough 教授编撰，深入研究 430 多家公司 (包括许多财富 500 强公司) 对开源软件的使用情况，其中 43% 的公司年收入超过 10 亿美元。
Henry Chesbrough分析了多家公司在何处以及在多大程度上体验到采用开源的好处，汇总调查结果，讨论开源软件的经济效益，包括成本节约、更快的开发、开放标准和互操作性。研究发现，公司使用开源软件的时间越长，从中获取的价值就越大；通过更加积极地为开源计划做出贡献，也会获取更多的价值。近 21% 的受访者表示，使用开源软件或为开源软件做出贡献的收益增长速度快于成本。
