ByteDance to emphasize search and imaging as it develops ChatGPT rival: report
TikTok owner ByteDance has established a large language model team and aims to embed the technology into its search and advertisement businesses, local media outlet 36Kr has reported, as the frenzy around AI-powered chatbot service ChatGPT continues to push Chinese companies to develop similar tools of their own. ByteDance is set to focus on language and imaging for its large language model, the report stated, citing several sources as saying that the model is expected to be launched in the middle of this year. Zhu Wenjia, head of global search and development for TikTok, has been appointed to oversee the large language model team and the image model team. [36Kr, in Chinese]
