用 YouTube 影片當作免空的方式

Hacker News 上看到「Infinite-Storage-Glitch – Use YouTube as cloud storage for any files (github.com/dvorakdwarf)」這個討論，裡面的專案在 DvorakDwarf/Infinite-Storage-Glitch 這邊。

這種搞法有點像是以前 Love machine 的玩法，記得當年是和信這樣玩去塞爆 HiNet 跟 TWIX 中間的頻寬，算是老故事了。

看起來他的作法是透過 2x2 的黑白 pixel 儲存，然後讓 YouTube 壓縮，最終 YouTube 生出來的 mp4 檔案大概是四倍大：

Use the embed option on the archive (THE VIDEO WILL BE SEVERAL TIMES LARGER THAN THE FILE, 4x in case of optimal compression resistance preset)

另外真的是比較學術面的討論的話，有 Information hiding 這個主題 (不過這次這個專案沒在演)，在討論要怎麼「藏」資訊在媒體載體上。

不過現在有不少直接做免空服務的，這種方式算是好玩而已，「實用性」已經沒以前那麼高了。

一樣是在 Hacker News Daily 上看到這篇：「Boot from USB · Issue #28 · raspberrypi/rpi-eeprom」，不過 GitHub 上的討論沒什麼重點，主要是 Hacker News 上的討論：「Raspberry Pi 4 can finally boot directly from USB (github.com)」。 這個功能在以前的 Raspberry Pi 上是可以用的，但大概是因為 RPi4 的 USB 模組整個換掉，所以在 RPi4 推出時是沒這個功能的，直到最近更新韌體才支援。 不過就算以前可以用 USB 2.0 開機，但因為 USB 2.0 的極限值只有 480Mbps，扣掉 USB mass storage 的 protocol overhead…

最近很少寫 Blog (程式沒寫幾行，倒是一堆行政上面的事情)，不過 Twitter 上倒是常常念。 最近忙一些事情，像是寫不完的採購簽呈 (還好有一部分交給 slzzp 了)，然後是開不完的會，如果要抽時間寫程式的話，就得在一般人下班後才有空了... 不管怎麼樣，最近看 jnlin 玩，以及我自己玩一些東西，有些有趣的想法，寫下來紀錄起來。 FreeBSD 7.0 的 SCHED_ULE 長期觀察下來 (超過兩個月) 算是相當穩定，這點在目前 PIXNET 的 Web Server 端可以看出來 (在 FreeBSD 跑 apache22 event 是使用 threading，配合 FastCGI 跑 PHP)，但 gjournal 與 ZFS 在效率以及穩定度上都還不堪使用。(指 heavy I/O) MyISAM 的讀取速度非常快，但不利於大量 Update (因為寫入的動作需要 table lock)。在國外的討論裡，一般都是推薦使用 InnoDB 解決這類 table 的情況，但實際上目前…

抓出正在使用的 DNS Server

在 Hacker News 上看到的方式：「Which DNS」，另外在「Show HN: Which DNS servers are you pointing to? (nameserve.rs)」這邊也有一些討論。 這個方式是去抓 DNS server 對外的 IP，像 HiNet 的 168.95.1.1 這種 DNS server 後面都有一堆 resolver，這個方式可以知道出去的 IP 是哪個，可以幫助分析 routing 之類的問題... 記得 Akamai 有類似的服務，不過查了一下沒找到之前有印象的那個，反倒是查到另外一組可以用的：「Introducing a New whoami Tool for DNS Resolver Information」。
