Hey all, 👋 I am a Co-Founder at Contra!
Being able to share the ability to easily create the portfolio of your dreams has been one of my biggest dreams. It feels like the puzzle pieces are fitting together: commission-free payments, contracts, invoices, job-matching network, a global community, and now the ability to host your work as your own personal website. 🎨

This is probably one of this year's biggest (and the best) launches for me. I congratulate everyone working at Contra. Now onto some of my honest personal story...as a developer and designer who loves tech products in general, I was always tempted to create a portfolio/personal website for myself. I had the idea for so long when I saw others in my field having created portfolios from their tech skills. As a web developer, it was like "something you have to do to survive in this game." So instead of building something, I always looked out for:
- What tech stack to use? - Where will I host it? How much will I have to pay for hosting per month? - Okay, but what content needs to be there that will be tempting to visitors? - Design? Ugh, there are soooo many awesome portfolios that my design might not be up to the standards set. - AND WHATNOT!
These were all the blockers I had. But I just left this idea (relying on my social networks to send profiles to recruiters) and just waited for a service that would do the heavy lifting (yeah, I was lazy 🥴)
Months and some years passed, and I found Contra via ProductHunt thanks to their State of Independence 2021 report: https://www.producthunt.com/prod.... I signed up for Contra later that day, and I had a thought just by looking at their design language. It was modern, with 3D elements, nice interactions, and a beautiful logo! 😍
I made plans to stick to it and joined their community (one of the best decisions a freelancer can make). I was amazed by the talented folks I found there and what to say about the team support! TOP NOTCH 🙌🙇

So why I told you all this short story? Because now, with Portfolios by Contra, I do not need to worry about my portfolio website! Something we, as freelancers, need to have! It is unique in itself since it has:
- 🎨 One of the best designs you can get. Yes, this comes from me, a web designer/developer who has followed web design trends for years (and worked with the team to make it even better and accessible).
- ✍️ No need to worry about the content since it fetches from your Contra Profile! As long as you do great there, you don't need to tinker around on the website. Nice.
- 🌐 Domain! We can simply have `.contra.com` in our portfolio website link or connect a custom domain.
And there are many great things too I might miss, so I would just thank Contra for making this possible for us. 🫶

Being an early adopter, using the platform for a long time, interacting with the team, and even working with them (yes, I worked on technical audits for the portfolio templates!), it was all worth it.
