1月25日，有权威专家向新京报贝壳财经记者表示，在可预见的将来，现金仍将长期存在。
为进一步提升流通中人民币质量，2022年8月，中国人民银行发布了新版《不宜流通人民币 纸币》（JR/T0153-2022）金融行业标准。
上述专家指出，人民银行发布新标准旨在进一步提升流通中人民币整洁度，确保公众用上放心钱、干净钱。由于纸币在流通过程中会逐渐磨损、老化，变脏变旧，这种 “脏污”类型的纸币，属于不宜流通人民币，人民银行在新标准中对脏污指标的评价标准进行了提升。随着新标准的实施，公众将会直观感受到从银行取出来的钱更干净整洁了。公众日常使用现金不会因此受到任何影响。
对于有观点认为央行此举是为了推广数字人民币的使用，专家表示，这是误解。国家“十四五”规划提出“稳妥推进数字货币研发”。
