Tried adding google one to denylist, Still same. I think proceeded to add google framework, google connectivity, and a few other in the deny list, still no luck. I wonder if pixelfy is causing a conflict.

I finally got it working. Here is what I did. Some of these things might not be necesary, but I figured It was easier to go a little overboard to see what might work. I should mention that I am in the US. I think it wasn't working mainly because it noticed that I was rooted:

Added these to the deny list:

  • Adaptive Connectivity Services
  • Google Connectivity Services
  • Google One
  • Google Play Services
  • I already had Wallet and Pay added, but that probably has nothing to do with this.
I force quit and cleared all data for the following apps:
  • Adaptive Connectivity Services
  • Google Connectivity Services
  • Google One
  • Google Play Services
Then I rebooted immediately. Once Rebooted I opened Google One, Set up my backup and started a backup. At this point I hadn't seen the free VPN option yet, so I went to do some other things, then when I reopened the Google One app about 10 minutes later, I got invited to use the free VPN. I think it just took some time for it to work.

Edit: I also flashed the December firmware this morning.
