Thank you for your support & feedback for our first launch of the AI-powered micro-learning platform. We're really excited to launch an update on Adaptiv, but before I speak about the product, I want to give a shout-out to our amazing team.

Ada, our AI-powered career mentor can answer career-related questions and help you understand how your strengths and interests align with different careers, and provide guidance on how to prepare for different careers.

🚀 What's so good about it? Human career mentoring provides a personal touch and the ability to offer emotional support, empathy, and a human connection, but AI career mentoring is much more accessible.

🧑‍💻 Some technical details about our implementation:

We built Ask Ada by fine-tuning the GPT3.5 (davinci model) with data about emerging career paths, job listings and skill requirements of the new economy. A series of fine-tuned models along with customized prompts is what allows Ask Ada to answer your career questions on the fly. In most cases, the model will try to create a complete JSON response, that is shown on the chat UI as a carousal with text, colors and emojis.

🚀 Why should you use it? We believe that access to education and mentoring should not be restricted to those who have the "right" resources. With Adaptiv, we want to democratize access to education, by helping a large number of students and young professionals get career mentoring without spending a lot of money, or reaching out to mentors who are difficult to access.

The more you interact with Ada, the better she becomes at anticipating questions and providing the right answers. Help us make career mentoring accessible to those who have been denied this privilege so far!

🚀 What's next? An AI-assisted creator platform that will enable teachers and other subject-matter experts to publish learning material with minimum effort, and provide upskilling opportunities to everybody across the world.

We present Ask Ada - and request your support, feedback and inputs. But first some context about the product.

We have been very passionate about the idea of building career intelligence - the ability to make the right career choices from an early age by everyone.

Our vision is to make career a function of data driven decisions. We have been doggedly chasing this goal for a year now. In this process we have learnt that while algorithms and data make a difference, we needed a User experience that makes it easy for people to consume this.

While some AI responses are going to be too simplistic. But we believe this is a complex problem & longer term value can only be unlocked by rapidly building, taking feedback and improving on it.

This can only be done in public and hence our decision to put this out for feedback.

For those who are interested in the underlying tech - we are using GPT3.5 (davinci model) with fine-tuning and customised prompts.

We found that customising the prompt had a significant improvement to the context of the AI and it gave surprising improvements to results.

One problem that we chose not to solve is the problem of maintaining threads and context. As is shown in the example below - the AI prompts the user with a follow up question for more context but chooses to proceed with a generic response to a generic question.

One powerful capability of generative AI models is the to train them from prompt to JSON with no intervention in between. I used a series of three models to extract intent from user input, generate career recos and convert to JSON along with emoji and hex code.
