Caretta

Instant K8s service dependency map, right to your Grafana

A lightweight, standalone tool that instantly creates a visual dependency map of all services running in your K8s cluster.

Carreta leverages eBPF to efficiently capture service network interactions, and Grafana to query & visualize the collected data.

👋 Hello Product Hunters! I’m @udi_rot 🤓, a software engineer from groundcover.

🎯 At groundcover our objective is to help teams keep track of their Kubernetes environment and solve problems quicker.

💪 We built Caretta to demonstrate just how powerful eBPF can be when it comes to cloud-native observability.

🐢 Caretta leverages eBPF technology to efficiently map all service networks interactions in a K8s cluster with mind-blowing granularity, along with collecting additional information such as network traffic rate across the cluster.

🐝 Using eBPF also means a frictionless integration - you can install Caretta by simply running a single Helm install command.

🐢 Caretta focuses on minimalism and ease of use. That’s why we decided to use Grafana to query the data Caretta collects and visualize it in a network service map and additional graphs. Carreta’s visualizations can be embedded in any existing Grafana and easily modified according to your personalized needs.

📰 If you’re interested in what went on behind the scenes, head over to www.groundcover.com/blog/caretta to read an account of our journey to building Caretta and some insights from the results, 💬 Or join our live discussion about it in the #carreta channel on our community Slack.

Have I mentioned Caretta is open source? The source code is available on GitHub, and we'd love to see contributions, issues with feature ideas, and of course - ⭐stars⭐

Enjoy and feel free to get in touch for any feedback or questions! Udi
