模拟器的出现，打破了游戏的平台限制，同时也让玩家有了怀旧的机会。
此前，安卓平台PS2模拟器的唯一选择是DamonPS2，可这是一款收费、闭源的软件，直到AetherSX2的出现，局面得以打破。
然而， 非常遗憾的是，AetherSX2开发者日前宣布，由于无穷无尽的冒充、抱怨乃至收到“死亡威胁”，他决定停止开发AetherSX2。
虽然这不会影响到当前AetherSX2的功能体验，但对于玩家尤其是粉丝用户来说，无疑是个不好的开始。希望开发者后续心态稳定，同时又有更多力量加入后，可以重启这款良心APP的开发。
