Chinese fast fashion retailer Shein plans to open five more pop-up stores in Brazil next year. The first store will be opened in Belo Horizonte, the sixth-largest city in Brazil early in the year, with the other four cities and specific opening dates yet to be determined.

The pop up store program is designed to strengthen the brand's presence in the Brazilian market, and the stores have been specially designed and localized to bring the multinational retail brand closer to local consumers, the company revealed in a statement.

The budget clothing retailer has opened pop-shops in multiple cities in the U.S., and one permanent shop in Japan as it combines physical retail with its already successful online venues.

Shein opened its first pop-up store in Brazil in May last year, at Village Mall, in  Rio de Janeiro. Then again in November, in one of Sao Paulo's biggest malls — Shopping Vila Olímpia. The store was widely popular — a capacity limit of 40 people were issued by store managers, and customers only had 20 minutes per person to shop.

The popularity can be largely attributed to Shein’s pricing. According to China Global South Project, clothings prices in Brazil are up 19%, while the highest priced item in Shein’s pop-up store was only 167 real (31 US dollars).

The move comes when the company is considering an IPO as soon as 2024, according to Bloomberg. Shein, the clothing start-up founded in 2008 in Nanjing China, was valued at $100 billion after receiving US$ 1 billion in April this year.
