Microlearning: the New Way of Workplace Training

One would assume that for every job that you get, you would receive the appropriate training so you can start doing the job as soon as possible. Unfortunately, that assumption is just that. Many employees get little to no training, 59% of them said that they receive no workplace training and are entirely self-taught. When they do get training, they often only get an average of 24 minutes a week for learning.

Looking at it from a manager’s perspective, it’s understandable why they make the training process quick as well as prioritize hiring people that have more of the skill sets that they are looking for. Training takes both time and money to execute and depending on the learning ability of the employee, it could take a while for them to be the ideal worker for the job.

Fortunately, there is a new way to train employees that can help both employees and managers alike. Aptly called microlearning, this method takes the burden and guesswork of traditional training methods and breaks it down into smaller units using an app. This creates a more efficient learning environment to build up skills at any pace to increase retention leading to getting into the groove of the job at a faster rate.
