Find the most valuable thing and do it wellIt has been more than 20 years since David Allen published the theory of [GTD](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ge...) in 2001. Many tools have been created to put this theory into practice during this time.

But is "GTD" really for everyone? Can everyone overcome procrastination and improve their efficiency?

I've been using "Microsoft To Do" for ten years since it was called "Wunderlist". I try to practice GTD every day, and now that I have over 1700 tasks lying around. I'll admit there are many tasks that I don't bother with anymore.

Over the years, we've wondered if there was a better way. In the spring of 2022, we found the answer -- **[Monotasking](https://www.amazon.com/Monotaski...)**! Yes, from Multitasking to Monotasking!

## The core of the Monotasking

**Monotasking (single-tasking)** is about doing the most critical task, focusing only on that single task.

The human brain can only focus on one thing at a time. When you want to do both simultaneously, the brain switches between the two, not at the same time (just as there is always a cost to switching between CPUs on a computer). Think back to a time to do two things in the scene switching is a good use of time.

And we have to think about it often to find out what is most important to us during this time. Are all tasks valuable? Is it okay not to do them? 80% of our tasks are more or less useful, but only 20% are critical.

So, how do we practice the single-core principle? Simply put, we need three tools.

1. a shortcut list (a piece of paper) - Place those tasks that are **most important now** rather than today's to-do list. - Do not record what cannot be done right now. - It is recommended that a maximum of 5 items be recorded. 2. Tentative list (one sheet of paper). - Ideas that do not fit into the "quick list" for now should be put in first. - No order, no limits, no pressure, and just put any ideas into the "staging list" first. 3. an alarm: use the tomato work method to help stay focused.

Use these three tools to put into practice the single-core work method. For a while, pick the most crucial task from your Quick List, set the alarm for 25 minutes, and give it your full attention. When the alarm goes off, you have 5 minutes to rest and think about the next most valuable task. During this period, repeat this toward the primary goal.

In short, this is the core of the single-core work method. Of course, there are many other details that you don't need to know too much about for now.

We have practiced this approach (🤣 Pinocchio Product Validation Method) for three months and found ourselves thinking more about whether something is worth the time. Doing less of it instead produced more value. I needed to recommend it to more people, so I devised "Weedone" to help more people become better versions of themselves.

## Weedone

We wanted Weedone to be a tool that would be good practice for Monotasking and simple enough (hopefully without too much documentation to explain usage).

- 🙅**NOT** - No support for adding unlimited tasks: if you want to plan all your trips and collect all your tasks, we recommend you use other scheduling, TODO applications - A task has no subtasks - A task has no Due Date, deadline, or target date - 💗**YES** - Current Week (shortlist): always put the most important tasks to be done at the moment; up to 7 tasks are supported - Garden (staging list): up to 100. I hope you can regularly and often clean up - Week (time box): We plan our goals in weeks - Tomato clock: each task will be associated with a tomato clock by default, using the tomato work method to maintain focus and thinking switch

In addition, we will guide you through planning A Week and summarizing Archived Week.

## Finally

We want to go over only a few concepts simultaneously (time is limited to one tomato). It's enough to understand them. So what's the most important thing to do right now? -- Start using Weedone (action first 🤣)!
