1992年12月，沃达丰公司的工程师尼尔·帕帕沃通过手机短信向同公司的通信总监理查德·贾维斯发出了一句节日问候：“Merry Christmas（圣诞快乐）”。
这句30年前的节日问候，就是人类历史上的第一条短信。
为了纪念短信技术问世30周年，谷歌近日发布了文章《Happy birthday and farewell, SMS!It's time for RCS》（生日快乐以及再见，SMS！是时候升级到RCS了）。
文章大力宣传RCS（Rich Communication Suite）富媒体通信套件技术，并讽刺苹果的短信服务“活在90年代”。
