According to a recent report by Alaska department of public safety. A stranded snowmobiler was rescued by the Alaska State Troopers on December 1 at 2AM local time. The rescue was made possible. This is because the stranded man activated the Emergency SOS service on his iPhone.

In clarify of the incident, the report went on to explained that. Apple’s Emergency response center reached out to Northwest Arctic Borough Search and Rescue Department. The rescue department then received the exact GPS coordinate of the stranded man.

After receiving the coordinates. The rescue department then dispatched a team of four people. To use the GPS coordinate to track down the stranded man. The rescue team were able to rescue the stranded man successfully. Thanks to Apple’s Emergency SOS Feature.

I think all manufacturers should begin to pay more attention. To features that relates to user safety. Just like what Apple has done with the Emergency SOS and the crash detection. This is about saving humanity. Not copying another company’s technology or idea.

Apple’s Emergency SOS Feature is currently exclusive to the USA and Canada. There is a report that France, Germany, UK and Ireland. iPhone users in these countries will also have this feature tnis month.

This means that people in these regions should expect the feature. This will begin the expansion to other parts of the world. With time, every part of the world will receive it.
