The Black Friday iPad deals are now starting to arrive and there are already some fine discounts available for tablet shoppers on the iPad Air, iPad Mini and more.
While Black Friday officially lands on November 25 this year, retailers like Amazon and Target are dropping early offers on some of Apple's most popular iPads. This makes it a great time to pick up one of Apple's well-respected slates, which still offer the gold standard of tablet experiences.
The only real drawback of iPads are their premium prices, but luckily these Black Friday deals help on that front. In the US, for example, the Apple iPad 10.2 2021 (64GB) has just equalled its record-low price on Amazon. That same model is also available for an impressively low price at Amazon UK.
It's also worth noting that Apple is running its own shopping event from November 25-28, which will give you a $50 gift card on some iPads if you buy direct from the Apple Store. This offer will only be for the iPad Air, iPad and iPad Mini, though, and in many cases retailer discounts will beat Apple's gift card offer.
With the Black Friday deals now ramping up, this article will point you towards the best iPad deals for your needs, as well as answering any questions you might have around this year's Black Friday iPad deals.

Black Friday iPad deals in the UK
While deals have already kicked off in the US, UK iPad discounts are looking a lot more scarce and likely won't manifest until we're closer to November 25 itself.
That said, here's what we have found so far and check back often to find new, fresh deals that might offer more bite.

Apple iPad 10.2 (2021): was £369 now £309 at AmazonIf you're looking for an Apple tablet on a budget, consider picking up the latest iPad 10.2 on sale for £309 at Amazon - just £10 more than the record-low price. For shopping, browsing, streaming, and gaming, it's more than enough for most users.
iPad (2021): was £549now £424.99 at AmazonDespite the arrival of the tenth-generation iPad, Apple continues to sell its 2021 predecessor, however, in practically every market outside the US, Apple increased the price of the ninth-generation model; making this early November 23% Black Friday reduction on the 256GB, WiFi-only variant a notable deal.
iPad Air (2022): was £1,029now £869 at AmazonApple's latest iPad Air fixes the shortcomings of its predecessor and serves up laptop-class M1 power too. This Amazon deal pushes the price of the 256GB cellular model down to only £20 more than the price of the WiFi-only version. In our iPad Air 2022 review, we described it as 'all the things that make Apple’s iPad great, in a stylish design.'
Black Friday iPad sales (AU): quick links
The best early Black Friday iPad deals in Australia
It's extremely hard to come by iPad deals of any kind in Australia, but Amazon has given us anywhere between 7% off to 15% off on iPads. However, we're not sure these offers are going to get better when Black Friday sales actually kick off, so if any of the below deals look good to you, we're recommend going for it. There's also stock issues to take into consideration – so if something is available, you might as well reach for it now.
iPad (2021; 64GB, Wi-Fi+Cellular): was AU$779now AU$679 on Amazon AU
Save AU$100 – It might be a 9th-gen model, but this 10.2-inch tablet is still a great option. Unfortunately, Apple bumped up the price of this 2021 model on the launch of the 10th-gen range, so any discount on the older one is a notable bargain.
iPad (2021; 256GB, Wi-Fi+Cellular): was AU$1,029 now AU$929 on Amazon AU
Save AU$100 – These days 64GB of storage doesn't cut it for anyone. If you're one of those, and you have the spare change for the 256GB version of the 9th-gen iPad 10.2 (aka last year's model), then this really is a very good deal. We don't see discounts like this too often, so consider the 10% off on Amazon if you're in need of a new Apple tablet.
iPad mini (2021; 64GB, Wi-Fi): was $829 now AU$743 on Amazon
Save AU$86 – 10% off the smaller 8.3-inch Apple slate might not seem like a tempting discount, but it's so rare to see more than this. We're hoping it gets cheaper in a bit but there are no guarantees. So if this price on the 64GB Wi-Fi version of the iPad mini suits, we'd suggest grabbing it now as stocks are likely going to run out soon.
iPad Pro 11-inch (2021, M1, Wi-Fi+Cellular): was AU$2,499 now AU$2,259 on Amazon
Save AU$240 - Again, a mere 10% off, but this 11-inch slate is one heck of a powerhouse! The M1 chip has a reputation and it's not misplaced. There's also a whopping 1TB storage here, so if you can grab a keyboard for it, this iPad could replace your laptop. And there's LTE connectivity too.
Should you wait for a Black Friday iPad deal?
Black Friday iPad deals generally don’t present big discounts – you’ll likely only see 10% or 15% reductions, and for the lower-end tablets that sometimes means reductions of only $20 or equivalent.
We often see better discounts than that at random times throughout the year – not always that much better, but better nonetheless – so if you spot a 20% or even 25% discount, it’s definitely worth jumping on now.
If you really want to save money, you could also buy a second-hand or renewed iPad, as those generally sell for even less than a reduced and new model would do. Either way, if you see an iPad deal ahead of Black Friday, it’s definitely worth jumping on it.
Buying tips: 3 of the best iPads to look for on Black Friday
The last of its kind
Alongside a duo of updated iPad Pros, the new 2022 standard iPad marks a notable shift in Apple's baseline tablet family, making the ninth-gen iPad from 2021 – which the company continues to sell – the last with a Lightning port and a home button. Although the retail price has remained the same direct from Apple in the US, the company actually upped it in other regions internationally, making deals from other retailers besides Apple that much more significant. Even with the official price hike, keep your eyes out for reductions elsewhere. Read more: iPad 10.2 (2021) review
- Upgraded selfie camera for video calls
- True Tone display
Against
- No Face ID
- Doesn’t support newer accessories
The most balanced tablet of 2022
After a two-year hiatus, Apple served up an updated iPad Air that's most notable improvement was a jump to the company's computing-class M1 chipset. Now that we have the full roster of 2022 iPad models out in the wild, the 2022 iPad Air looks like it serves up the sweet-spot of performance and functionality, paired with the fact that it arrived months prior this year's base and Pro iPads means there's a far greater likelihood that discounts will be cropping up from multiple retailers. - Speedy performance
- Incredibly versatile
Against
- Battery life only average
- 64GB is too little storage for base model
Small and mighty
The iPad Mini's graduation to a home button-free experience is a welcome transition, with a nice screen, great versatility and handy optional connectivity. There's nothing else with the size to power ratio out there in the market and it's also the iPad that's consistently seeing the biggest discounts ahead of Black Friday itself. Black Friday iPad deals 2022: our predictions
When will the best Black Friday iPad deals start in 2022?
With November now upon us, some brands – like Target and BestBuy – have already started offering some deals on iPads, however, we expect them to get better as we get closer to November 25, even if the best deals don't take place on the day itself (the perfect time to strike will likely be just beforehand).
This happens every year; retailers try to get you to spend all your money at their digital or physical stores as early as possible, to make sure you don’t go to the competing stores. Every year, the sales begin earlier and earlier.
So it’s worth keeping a look out for deals in this run-up period to Black Friday, though we could see even more deals from other retailers launched over the weekend itself.

Where will the best Black Friday iPad deals be?
Lots of retailers push iPad deals, as despite the lack of quality on these discounts, they’re often the most sought-after products over Black Friday.
From our experience, Amazon is often the best retailer to check for discounts – it has a good track record with reductions, and also has a website layout that makes it easy to compare deals on different configurations and tablets.
In the US, Walmart can often be pretty good for discounts, and Target to a lesser extent. In the UK, Argos and Currys should be on your list of retailers to check, but we’d recommend avoiding John Lewis.
What iPads do we expect will be discounted in 2022?
While the arrival of the iPad (2022) and iPad Pro (2022) will undoubtedly spur some reductions, don't expect there to be range-wide blanket price drops. Apple decided to up the price of the iPad (2021) in markets outside the US when its successor came along and some retailers might not be against price-matching, so double-check if that's one model you've got your heart set on. You might see better luck with the 2021 iPad Pros, however.
The 2020 iPad Air could see a fair few discounts, and since there are very few differences between generations (save for the move to a beefier M1 chip), that should be enough for most iPad fans, especially those also considering the new standard iPad.
Which iPad deals should we avoid?
As mentioned above, the 2021 base iPad continues to sell direct from Apple, and in the US it maintains the same $329 asking price that it previously enjoyed (i.e. no year-on-year price cut), whereas in markets like the UK, Apple actually increased the price after October 18.
As such, while its age might mean you see what appear to be good deals from third-party retailers, make sure they're not discounting its higher price in the UK before coughing up cash.
Last year’s best Black Friday iPad deals
In 2021 the Black Friday iPad deals were… poor, there’s no other word for it. We saw a few modest discounts on the iPad Pro 2021, which was six months old at that point, but they didn’t exactly take much money off the cost.
