Green Technologies VS Manufactories: Who to Work With and Why Do We Have to Choose?

Getting closer to the theme of ecology and climate change, we must say that staying out of the dialogue is no longer possible

Since the global mean temperature in the world increased by 1,5 Calcium degrees, this may mean a lot of damage and danger for the whole planet: from melting ice to the harder winters and disappearance of the soft European sprints and autumns. Hot summers will become even harder to survive, like it was this year when people in the US were simply boiling to death in trailer parks. At the same time, in Antarctica penguins are walking on the roofs of institutions since they have welcomed one of the hardest winters despite the fact ice is melting.

An increase in the overall temperature doesn’t mean the planet just becomes warmer and warmer. It simply means having no soft seasons and harder weather changes and only then with the critical change of the global Ocean temperature people will feel the true danger of the ice melting and increasing level of the world ocean. Turning into such a cataclysm, many businesses go green for real.

Instead of making new fashion brands, people all around the world focus on making fashion brands out of previously used clothes. Up-cycling systems, stock markets and increasing requests for luxury items tell about conscious shopping and anti-consumerism tendencies. At the same time, we understand pretty well that this is not enough.

Green Technologies in IT

If let’s say 10 years ago people were launching startups for marketing purposes or landlord solutions, nowadays, they are no longer actual. What is really interesting for society today is working on going green in corporate businesses and enterprises: factories, fabrics, and productions are all switching from being productive to simply being green. So which solutions are offered for now?

Human Resources Management

Current green solutions offer special agenda for hiring people with disabilities, LGBTQ+ representatives and having women employed in an equal proportion to men. So overall, green solutions also look after the salaries and work-life balance, stopping kids’ work and slavery in the modern form, when people are getting under-payed for their hard work.

Control of the Used Technologies

Another important thing is using less stuff that requires electricity and using water or solar power instead. Starting from this point and up to the idea of using only 3D printing, which is believed to be more eco-friendly, companies switch to completely alternative ways of work and production.

Materials and Waste Control

And finally, there is always a checklist on materials and waste control. Not throwing the rubbish, re-cycling, and categorizing — all of this is important when we are talking about bid productions, especially fabrics and manufactures.

Working with such companies who follow a going-green approach and eco-improving systems influences you as UI/UX designer directly, since it improves your image and brand. At the same time, it makes you more sustainable, and most likely you are helping to spread information about the importance of going green.

The Other Side

But all this time there are still huge corporations standing on the other side of the coin. You may still be getting orders from large corporations who are not following the green agenda and not putting sustainability on the map of the values. And this may affect your brand. Since if you decided to work with sustainable brands once, you need to follow the plan and you can not leave the path created. Moreover, working with sustainable brands is your way to the future, while focusing on rich, huge, but old-fashioned factories will only ruin your reputation.

So keep tracking climate changes all over the globe and let your design influence the situation changing it for the better, since you really may help here with your direct actions. Just make the first step and you will see the road, which will be opened under the steps of the one who makes them.
