Hi Hunters (and Makers),

I am Varun Gupta and a little bit about me is here @varun_gupta5. It’s been an interesting ride. Pathfndr started out as a platform to solve the problems of pretty much 80% of the world, i.e., creating great trips on the fly. Yes yes, the 20% of you who love researching every nook and cranny of the travel internet, you can enjoy the platform too!

As we went along, we discovered bigger problems. That not only is creating a trip a problem for consumers, but in a world of highly demanding customers, it’s equally a problem for Travel Agents/ advisors. Then came Covid and bam! Everything we had built went to zero.

But what we discovered was that a market shift had happened. Travel Advisors now needed digital solutions to reach a larger audience and future-proof their business. They needed a way to be quicker with their responses, more varied and creative with their solutions, and more efficient with their bookings.

Enter Pathfndr!

We think of ourselves as the AI-powered Travel Operating System for the world.

The AI is a mix of several algorithms to help rank destinations, flights, hotels, and activities. We do that through most of the data science buzzwords you can throw on a screen (where we don’t do something already, we have POCs ongoing behind the scenes)! Most importantly, we look at the world differently. We’ve taken some of the hardest problems in travel and tried to solve them all at once. Not the best thing for a startup to do, but that sum of parts is the hardest remaining problem in our minds.

We try to determine good locations by the presence of things to do, but also by their absence. We are likely the only ones to create a day-by-day activity itinerary within your budget. We optimize for the distance of your hotel from the best things to do in a destination and tell you if it really matters. All of this is done with the best B2B prices in the world.

So how does this play out?

Travel Advisors have a new way of creating the best and most unique trips! They also have another way of interacting with their audience. They keep the best parts of their “service” while outsourcing the drudgery to algorithms and APIs.

Travel Influencers (including Micro-Influencers, i.e., you know the gal in the group who’s always telling you where to go and how to plan your itinerary) can now create their own travel platforms and sell travel to their followers, friends, and family. They can make a ton of money or help all of them save money. Interestingly, several micro-corporates, those who don’t need fancy corporate travel management companies serving them, also have their own Pathfndr sites for business and personal travel.
