I am Bastian Purrer, the Co-founder of humanID. The internet was built to do good. It connects us in ways we thought were impossible. It gave us hope that our thoughts would be spread wider and our voices louder. The promise of participation for everyone!

But somewhere along the way, that hope was lost. Disinformation has put our democracies, societies, and privacy at risk. Corruption, election interference, violent riots, and loss of loved ones have shown the real-world consequences of fake news.

So we created humanID!

🎯Our Mission humanID battles the dangers of unsafe logins by allowing users to sign in anonymously using the one person, one voice model that has upheld democracies for generations. We care about communities flourishing. Our mission is to utilize technology in a responsible way to shape the communities of the future. By requiring authentication through a unique phone number, which we delete after verification, we are making it arduous for cyberbullies, bot accounts, and spammers to abuse websites and apps.

People are becoming increasingly aware of how important internet privacy is, and that is something we treasure. humanID never permanently stores personal information, and protects it from any access through the platforms you’re using. Our model is the SSO convenience of Google and Facebook logins without data mining, profit motives, or user tracking.

🌟What is humanID? • Creates a **fully anonymous, privacy-first identity** that enables communities to block bots and abusive users.

• Protects the identity of its users through an **irreversible hash**, generating an ID that is unique to each user and platform the user is logging into.

• Enables platforms to decrease the cost of monitoring and moderating content, eliminates the significant business risk of data leaks, and appeals to a growing audience of privacy-focused consumers.

• Our model is open source - this means anyone may view our code and keep us accountable. In comparison to closed-source/proprietary models, anyone has the ability to improve the code at any time, and security flaws are less likely to be left unpatched.

👫Our Team humanID has been created by the Foundation for a Human Internet, a 100% volunteer-driven group building open source and in public.

The team is proud of our robust and diverse leadership on both technical and business aspects. Together, we are building world-class technology as public infrastructure for the web of tomorrow.

humanID's leadership team includes experienced cybersecurity experts, seasoned entrepreneurs, and graduates from some of the highest-ranked colleges and universities in the United States. Our early development was supported and funded by Harvard Business School.

In addition, the mission itself attracts volunteers with expertise in the area of cybersecurity and data privacy. We believe in our approach based on countless interviews with experts, strong incoming demand from websites and apps, and interviews with focus groups confirming a strong demand for a solution like humanID. Furthermore, we’ve seen inbound interest from experts, volunteers, and partners who are excited to see humanID’s mission of repairing the modern internet going further.
