10 Songs on our Algolia Search and Discovery playlist

A lot has happened since 2012. For starters, despite the Mayan prophecy, the world did not end. Quite the opposite, a whole new world of search and discovery was born. That’s right, Algolia was founded in 2012, which means this year is our 10th anniversary!

So, how shall we celebrate? We could be like an average 10-year-old and ask for a pony or an Xbox (which is actually a customer of Algolia!). But that’s not our speed. Instead, we are looking back and looking ahead with a 10-themed blog series featuring topics ranging from predictions to milestones to playlists and more.

First up? In honor of Algolia turning ten, we are kicking it off with ten of our favorite songs dedicated to searching for, looking for, finding, seeking out, and discovering things, and give you a virtual tour of some of the products and services we’ve developed over those ten years at the same time. So, sit back and enjoy some good beats and some even better Algolia feats.

  • “Searching” – Mary J. Blige, Roy Ayers

Kicking off the playlist with a remix of an old classic! How often are you online searching, searching, searching, when the obvious answer could be right in front of you? We founded Algolia to fulfill a simple mission: creating fast, relevant, personalized search and discovery experiences. Customers shouldn’t feel lost or frustrated on a business’s website – not when we can implement an API solution that practically reads your mind!

  • “Discovering You” – Jesse McCartney

While you’re discovering Jesse McCartney’s latest jams, you can also discover some of the products we provide which have been proven to improve UX, drive engagement, increase revenue and drive better discovery on your websites.

  • “The Seeker” – Dolly Parton

Dolly always says it best. Aren’t we all seekers online? Whether you’re seeking out a specific product or spending your 9 to 5 looking for more general knowledge about how to create a powerful search and discovery experience, we offer a number of trainings that will help you get started.

  • “What I’ve Been Looking For” – Sharpay & Ryan

When did we find exactly what we’ve been looking for? When we acquired Search.io and its vector search engine!  We now power the first and only API-first platform on the market that combines keyword, semantic, and image search to truly revolutionize the search experience with lightning-fast, custom-built, and highly relevant results.

  • “Searchin for Love” – Akon

Sometimes a search delivers what you literally ask for, but it isn’t what you meant. Like “love” it’s hard to describe, but you know it when you see it. Similarly, semantic search goes beyond the literal description to deliver what you intended. Search.io’s Neuralsearch is helping us bring semantic search to new heights.

  • “I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For” – U2

The feeling when you’re two hours deep into your search and the cart is still empty – but this won’t happen on sites that use Algolia. One way that our solutions are able to overcome the deluge of search results users are often faced with is through our Dynamic Re-ranking, which boosts the best search results. We also surface items with blazing fast speed, so you won’t be left hanging around.

  • “Why is Love So Hard to Find?” –  Jesse McCartney

It’s Jesse’s world, and we’re just living in it. Speaking of hard to find, did you know that nearly 60% of online searches are conducted on mobile devices? One reason that you may not be seeing e-commerce growth is that you haven’t invested in your mobile search experience to the same extent as your desktop site – a big oversight in the modern landscape that may make it hard for consumers to find what they need! Don’t worry, Algolia optimizes both mobile and web search.

  • “Until I Found You” – Stephen Sanchez

You may be lost in the darkness until you find a search and discovery tool that truly elevates your UX, and paves the way for your organization as a whole to grow! If you don’t believe us, take inspiration from our customers and use cases.

  • “Search and Destroy” – Florence + the Machine

We’re more in the search and discovery business, but we also happen to love this cover of a punk rock classic! Whatever you may be searchin’, searchin’ for, we’ve got the expertise to address challenges across a wide range of industries and solutions. Ready to destroy the competition?

  • “The Greatest Discovery” – Elton John

What’s the greatest discovery you’ve ever made? At Algolia, we’re proud to be trailblazers in this space, but we’ve also always prided ourselves on discovering great people and establishing a culture-first company. We care about the people we work with, the customers we provide solutions for, and the positive impact that we make on society. As much as we prioritize our technical advancements, equally important is making sure that as a company we give back and are supporting our employees and surrounding communities as well.

As the people behind our leading API-first search and discovery platform, Algolians are big fans of everything searching and discovering. But,  we’re also music buffs!  Which, naturally, led us to this quest to find all and any music related to search and discovery, so you don’t have to! 😉 Tune into the playlist here
