Play with characters and items from SteamWorld Heist
Faraday deploys a powerful electrocution attack at the hyenas, temporarily putting one of them out of action before his other party members deliver some much-needed repair work and put up a shield. I weather the incoming attack from the animals before dispatching them with some solid mechanical attacks. My sanity is a little low, so I need to find someone to trade with or a soothing spring, before moving towards a tribal village that might reveal the route to the Golden Pyramid.
Curious Expedition 2 - Robots of Lux is developed by Maschinen-Mensch and published by Thunderful Publishing. This downloadable content pack introduces characters from SteamWorld Heist to the adventure rogue-like title, with robotic pirates ready to meet the explorers of the steampunk universe.
This means players will be able to choose Piper Faraday as a leader for their expeditions and a new Naturalist is also offered, able to tame wildlife on the islands. The Old Theater in Paris is now open, allowing players to get access to three new characters, the Robot Chameleon, and a range of equipment associated with SteamWorld Heist.
The gameplay remains easy to understand and engaging. The player’s party lands on an unknown island, with a range of items and a reserve of sanity. They need to explore, carefully plan their moves, and try to reach a clear goal. There are plenty of events and encounters to deal with.

The combat is dice-driven and a little schematic. But I encourage players to try and avoid confrontation as much as possible and see what kindness and negotiation can get them.
Curious Expedition 2 remains a very pretty game, filled with color and style, even if Robots of Lux does not tweak its presentation in any major way. Faraday and the other SteamWorld Heist characters look pretty good. The soundtrack continues to add to the immersion and underlines the weirdness of the player party’s adventures.
Conclusion
Those who lack that connection should first explore everything the core game delivers and only then explore what the DLC can offer. My one problem is that the new content does not include a special island based around robots, with unique encounters and mechanics. Curious Expedition 2 could use more tweaks in any coming downloadable content delivery, alongside new characters and items.
