Intel has just announced that starting in 2023, the famous Intel Pentium and Intel Celeron branding would be retired, with the company to instead introduce a new Intel Processor lineup that will cover both families of chips.

Intel’s notebook product stack will therefore use a single branding that will make more sense for the company’s offering in the long term, making the lineup overall more streamlined.

Intel says the new strategy will also simply the lineup for customers.

“Whether for work or play, the importance of the PC has only become more apparent as the torrid pace of technological development continues to shape the world. Intel is committed to driving innovation to benefit users, and our entry-level processor families have been crucial for raising the PC standard across all price points. The new Intel Processor branding will simplify our offerings so users can focus on choosing the right processor for their needs,” Josh Newman, Intel vice president and interim general manager of Mobile Client Platforms, explains.

Going forward, Intel will continue to invest in several flagship brands, namely Intel Core, Intel Evo, and Intel vPro.

Of course, the existing products wouldn’t suffer any changes, with Intel explaining that the current product offerings and the product roadmap will remain the same.

“Intel Processor will serve as the brand name for multiple processor families, helping to simplify the product purchase experience for consumers. Intel will continue to deliver the same products and benefits within segments. The brand leaves unchanged Intel’s current product offerings and Intel’s product roadmap,” the company explains.

At this point, it’s still not known when the first Intel Processor product would see the daylight, but expect additional information on this front to surface as we approach the first quarter of 2023.
