TikTok Now is the newest way to be entertained and connect with others on TikTok. In the US, TikTok Now can be accessed from the TikTok app. In other regions, TikTok Now may be available as a new TikTok Now app, too.

I guess it's TikTok's turn to start copying features. It'll be interesting to see how this will play out and what BeReal's response will be. While BeReal it's getting a lot of buzz right now, I'm not sure it has hit the mainstream yet to be strong enough to survive this.
Also interesting how they're testing it as both a standalone app and an in-app feature. Thoughts?
TikTok has always been a media and entertainment company but it's shifting further toward a social network with updates like this. I've also noticed more prompts for me to import my contacts, follow friends, and other user<>user flywheels.
@rrhoover makes sense. Tik-tok has always been on a 'follow' social graph and since it was a broadcast network, all it cared about was what a user likes to watch. if they want to get into different social, they'll have to build a strong friend finder. Hence, importing contacts.
