Scala 3.2.0 — Minor Release, Significant Improvements

06. Sep 2022

A new version of Scala has been released! This high-level programming language combines object-oriented and functional programming in a typed setting. When first released in 2003, it was dubbed "better Java," because it allowed writing code in the same way that Java did, but with improved ergonomics and syntax. Although the hype surrounding the language has settled down, this general-purpose language continues to evolve.

The highlights of the latest release include:

  • support for code coverage
  • exports in extension clauses
  • code completion for refined types
  • improved Mirror synthesis
  • easier use of class constructors with using clauses
  • given instances in for-comprehension
  • statistics about code complexity
  • new experimental APIs
