A few days ago, Chinese manufacturing giant, Huawei officially released the Huawei Mate 50 series. This flagship series finally arrived after a long wait. The Huawei Mate 50 series has four models including the Huawei Mate 50E, Mate 50, Mate 50 Pro and Mate 50 RS Porsche Design. Among them, Huawei Mate 50 and Mate 50 Pro series come with ultra-optical XMAGE images, ultra-reliable Kunlun glass, and a pre-installed HarmonyOS 3.0 system. Apart from the Mate 50E which uses a Snapdragon 778G chip, the other models come with the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC. Nevertheless, it is important to note that the chips do not directly support 5G. To use 5G network on these smartphones, users will have to separately purchase a 5G case.

Huawei Mate 50 series will support 5G network

According to Weibo tech blogger, @Factory Director Shiguan, the 5G network case for the Huawei Mate 50 series will be official probably around October. The blogger said: “For ordinary people, 5G is just a change in download speed.” At the same time, he also added: “Huawei’s 4G is actually 4G+, and the download speed is not much slower.” From the blogger’s picture, it seems that the Mate 50 series 5G mobile phone case will have the 5G logo.

Recall that three different 5G communication cases for the Mate 50 series already have the approval of the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. These cases are for the Huawei Mate 50, Mate 50 Pro, and Mate 50 RS Porsche design.

For reference, the Huawei P50 Pro successfully upgrades the mobile phone network from 4G to 5G. It does this using an embedded eSIM chip and 5G modem in the mobile phone case. The 5G case for the P50 Pro is developed and produced by Digital Source Technology. The official configuration data shows that the “5G communication shell” weighs about 52g. The case also has a thickness of about 3.2mm with matching colours.
