Elon Musk issues another notice to try to end the deal with Twitter

According to court records, Elon Musk filed a revised countersuit against Twitter on Friday. This countersuit includes recent allegations by whistleblowers that the social media platform has security flaws. In addition, Tesla CEO’s lawyer said that Musk’s $44 billion acquisition of Twitter was due to Twitter’s recent agreement with and payment of $7.75 million to a whistleblower. This is the third letter Musk has sent to Twitter in an attempt to end its $44 billion acquisition. The letter, dated Sept. 9, was sent to Twitter’s chief legal officer, Vijaya Gadde, and was included in Twitter’s filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission on Friday.

Last month, Zatko made headlines for accusing Twitter of misleading investors about the number of bots on the service, its failure to delete user data and poor security measures. Musk has pushed back against the allegations, referring to them in his second dismissal letter and subpoenaing Zatko to testify in the lawsuit.

Elon Musk sent his first termination letter in July. He claims that Twitter had misled him about the number of bots on its platform. Also, he claims the company would not let him have access to some important information. Although he was given access to the “firehose” API that contains each tweet.

On Thursday, the Wall Street Journal reports that before Zatko left the company, Twitter agreed to pay him about $7 million. The amount he lost after months of negotiations with the company over compensation. Musk’s lawyers say that’s another reason for his deal with the social media company. The Wall Street Journal believes the settlement isn’t particularly surprising. This is because Zatko is an executive who has left the company, but Musk doesn’t seem to agree. The letter also mentions that Musk is unaware of the news until Twitter filed a separation agreement with the court. A trial in the case is scheduled to begin on October 17.
