The other day, I saw the designer Raul Martin talk about a new plugin called Propstar by Henrique Gusso and Wise that solves this problem.

In one click, the plugin generates all the possibilities that a component built with component properties has. Using it, you can make a map with all the component possibilities.

What’s so great about it?

Because the component properties don’t show all the options, designers might not realize how many options the component has. It might confuse them.

It’s super easy; Select the component or variants group and run the plugin. Within a second, you’ll see a map with all the variants. Additionally, the properties of each variant are described.

Take note of these points

Master and variants in the same place
This plugin adds variants in the same place as the masters. Since they’re all in the same location, but only the masters have the “brain” (the configuration), this can cause confusion.

It seems the creators knew about that, so they gave the master a different background than the variants.

Generating variants that do not exist in the system
Because it runs all the options, some components may not make sense for your system. As an example, if in your system a button can have one icon, on the left or on the right, it can generate buttons with two icons.
