What do you think of when you hear the word “automation?” Many imagine state-of-the-art factories where robots handle every step of production. Automation today is much more than these production lines. Instead of physical robots doing the work, there are bots, AI, and automated workflows helping bring automation to every line of business.

Now, automation is for everyone and every industry. By automating time-consuming, and mundane tasks, employees gain the freedom to pursue more impactful and engaging tasks. Thanks to the rise of low-code/no-code tools, automation can be deployed by non-developers through intuitive interfaces.

When it comes to automation, finance is an excellent place to start. The reason? It’s because of the strict legal requirements, where compliance is absolutely necessary. Automation can eliminate human error and create transparent and compliant records.

IT

Every organization is on board when it comes to digital transformation. The challenge lies in making that transformation happen. Moving from legacy systems can be time consuming and rife with potential errors. But automation can not only help post migration, it can be used during your migration to new software.

Governance, Risk Management, and Compliance

Organizations need a full and transparent understanding of any risks. Automation helps provide exactly that. EY discusses how they use automation solutions with their clients to automate this process and provide dashboards allowing organizations to monitor activity, see trends, and identify potential risk areas.

HR

There’s no shortage in the number of ways HR departments benefit from automation. For example, onboarding typically requires multiple systems and a lot of manual work – especially for international organizations. Automation helps streamline these processes and improve the employee experience.

But what I found particularly interesting is the considerations around travel compliance. Employees who regularly travel for business can be automatically notified of any tax issues they need to be consider when working abroad.

Customer Experience

Many organizations successfully use automations such as chatbots to help improve the customer experience. However, automation can do so much more – such as helping overwhelmed sales and support teams to improve customer service. It can also improve the customer onboarding experience, making it easier to scale.
