6+ ideas for your design blog

Helping you hit publish, finally.

If you have always wanted to start writing but finding it hard or need validation on your ideas, read on so you can write on!

🛣 On your journey to become a designer/ your current job

This is something that will absolutely be unique to you. Instead of trying to sell your journey, keep it simple and tell it like you would to an old school friend. Share the good and bad decisions, your regrets and hopes.

🙄 On challenges as a designer

(optional: how you deal with them!)
Most relatable and vulnerable thing you can share. Even if you make 1 person feel more comfortable with their challenges, or less alone, your writing did it work.

☎️ On design rituals and processes of your team

If you find it difficult to draw from your personal experiences, write something which has more folks involved. Whether you are a freelancer or in team of 5 or 50, you will have your ways of working(critiques, stand ups, etc).

Write about them — maybe as a way to share what worked for your team or as a way to find out some ways for your current challenge at work.

💛 On work life balance, mental health, and imposter syndrome

What works for me, might not work for them. But what works for you might work for them. Share 3–4 tips on how you have been keeping sane, your way of getting over bad days, and building confidence when you need it.

📝 On career decisions

How did you decide between IC or design manager route, between job offers, between job or masters, and so many more.

🌶 Your hot takes on

If you really are up for it, here are some things you can write about
- Design conferences, what you like or don’t, find it worth it/not worth it
- Design content creators (favorite ones, paid content vs unpaid)
- Social media presence for designers (important or not, worth it or not)
- Moving abroad for a job vs masters

Need a little more enthu to start writing, maybe read this as well. 😉

So looking forward to reading what you write.
Chhavi xx
