About CER (Cybersecurity Ranking and CERtification Platform)
CER was founded in 2018, it has audited more than 270 cryptocurrency exchanges and conducted dozens of complex security assessments on well-known exchanges. CER keeps a close eye on the latest trends and monitors to understand why and how hacking incidents happen to predict and prevent future attacks.
At CER, all security reviews and assessments are carried out according to a unique and continuously improving methodology, which consists of more than 18 indicators. Based on best practices in cybersecurity protection, conducted by highly skilled researchers and teams of white hackers.
In July 2020, cybersecurity data provided by the CER.live platform became a part of CoinGecko’s TrustScore.
How the score is calculated at CER?
Step1: points system
CER evaluates various aspects of project safety according to a rating system and scores performance based on a minimum score of 0 and a maximum of 10.
Step2: Scoring weights
Multiply the result received by step1 with the scoring system, and the specific weights are as follows.

Step3: Score calculation
Convert the sum of scored points to the rating.

Step4: Certification
CER certification is given to crypto exchanges that have been assessed by specialists according to 3 main criteria: penetration test, proof of funds, and bug bounty.
Penetration Test: Penetration testing or Pentest is an authorized imitation of external attacks on information systems and applications (desktop, web, and mobile) of the company with the purpose to find vulnerabilities and analyze the level of technical security. The result is a multilayered report containing an analysis of the actual security of the business against external attacks and practical recommendations to limit threats and eliminate vulnerabilities.
Proof of funds: A crypto exchange gets a tick if the balance on hot and cold wallets is >$1M in ETH and BTC.
Bug bounty: A self-hosted bug bounty program may be evaluated as third-party managed if the platform provides a review by a reputable third-party auditor.
Step5: Calculate a final rating
